Introduction

FinTeam Business Consulting is a fractional CFO services firm dedicated to assisting small businesses. Our mission is to help businesses financially flourish. We are spreadsheet-slinging and cash flow-creatin' finance fanatics who love serving our clients.

We are incredibly excited to receive your application!

Duties & Responsibilities

Role Summary

The Full Stack Developer reviews, repairs, and maintains the web application our team and our clients

rely on every day. The role begins with a focused review — a clear, prioritized picture of what is broken,

risky, or slow — and then works through that list with us, most important first. Our app connects to our

clients' QuickBooks Online accounts and turns their accounting data into CFO-level reports and

dashboards, so accuracy, reliability, and security are the heart of the job.

Key Responsibilities

Application Review & Assessment

- Review the codebase (Python/FastAPI backend and a large single-file JavaScript frontend) and produce a short, prioritized report of what is broken, risky, or slow.

- Flag security and data-integrity concerns clearly, with recommended fixes ranked by importance.

- Give honest estimates of effort so leaders can decide what to tackle first.

Bug Fixes & Application Maintenance

-  Fix bugs across the app — data accuracy, syncing, and the user interface. Improve the reliability and accuracy of the QuickBooks Online data sync.

- Harden security and improve performance.

- Keep the app stable and deployable while changes are being made.

Testing & Documentation

-  Write and maintain automated end-to-end tests (Playwright) so fixes stay fixed.

- Document what changed and why, so the work is easy to pick up later.

Maintain clear technical notes and documentation.

Technical Environment Backend

Python 3.11, FastAPI, raw SQL Database: PostgreSQL Frontend: one large single-file vanilla JavaScript app (no framework, no build step) Integrations: QuickBooks Online API (OAuth2) Hosting / deploy: Railway (push to GitHub = deploy) Testing: Playwright (end-to-end)

Desired Experience & Qualification

We are not looking for a vibe-coder; we are looking for a seasoned developer who can lead this project with technical proficiency and excellence. Use of AI is permissable, but it shouldn't be a crutch.

We would also lke you to understand at least basic accounting information, such as what a P&L, BS, and General Ledger are. Experience developing FinTech, specifically FP&A software, is a huge plus.

Qualifications

- 4+ years in professional full stack web development.

- Strong Python skills, ideally with FastAPI (async / await).

- Strong skills with SQL and PostgreSQL, including writing and optimizing raw queries.

- Experiencew with vanilla JavaScript, comfortable working in a large, framework-free single-page app (we do not use React/Vue/Angular).

- Experience integrating third-party REST APIs using OAuth2.

- Comfortable reading and improving a large existing codebase you did not write. Git / GitHub, and able to deploy your own changes.

- QuickBooks Online (QBO) API experience, fintech or accounting experience, and Playwright testing are a plus.

Package & Remuneration

This is a project-based, hourly role that we expect to be 10-20 hours per week.

Salary will be determined commensurate with skills, experience, and abilities..

This role has the potential to convert into a full-time opportunity.
