Accountant – Fresh Produce Industry
Location: Wellington Salary: Market-related, depending on experience and qualifications Duties & Responsibilities
Are you an experienced accounting professional with a strong background in the fresh fruit industry? We are looking for a detail-oriented and disciplined Accountant to join a dynamic team, taking responsibility for producer payments, cost accounting, reconciliations and financial reporting.
Minimum Requirements
- BCompt or BTech degree.
- Completed articles at a registered auditing firm or a minimum of 3 years’ relevant accounting experience.
- Essential: Sound experience in the fresh fruit industry.
- Strong computer literacy, particularly advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
- Knowledge of cost accounting and standard costing principles.
- Experience handling foreign exchange (forex).
Key Responsibilities
- Capture and review produce costs, related cost elements and adjustments.
- Prepare and review weekly payments to producers.
- Send payment remittances and report on producer payment summaries.
- Manage producer payment deduction ledgers.
- Invoice costs back to producers.
- Reconcile and report on balance sheet items relating to standard cost control accounts.
- Facilitate the onboarding of new producers.
- Prepare ad hoc reports and perform other relevant accounting functions as required.
