Fragrance Sales Representative

This role focuses on building and growing relationships with manufacturers in the personal care, cosmetic, health and home care sectors through the consultative sale of fragrance ingredients and related technical support. Job Specification

ABOUT THE ROLE

Based at the Johannesburg office, this position is part of a specialised commercial team that includes product management, sales and marketing. The role centres on both account management and new business development within sub-Saharan Africa’s personal care and home care manufacturing market. Offer

Key responsibilities include

Managing and growing sales to existing fragrance customers

Identifying and securing new customers within target manufacturing sectors

Providing technical advice to research and development chemists on suitable fragrance ingredients for specific formulations

Preparing scientifically sound marketing materials based on technical data to support sales activity

Assisting the product manager with sales, product and customer-related tasks

Spending time in the laboratory working with fragrance samples and developing formats for skin care, hair care and home care to showcase to customers

Collaborating closely with product managers, sales representatives and marketing colleagues

Maintaining regular customer visits and market coverage, with travel of up to three days per week

WHAT YOU'LL NEED

A relevant technical scientific qualification, preferably as a qualified chemist

Proven sales experience, ideally in a technical or B2B environment

Training or practical experience in selling fragrances

Competence in Excel and strong numerical ability

A flair for marketing and communications, with the ability to translate technical information into clear commercial messages

Strong relationship-building skills and confident communication style

A problem-solving, sales-oriented mindset with the ability to work independently

Willingness to travel regularly and access to your own vehicle

A structured, organised approach to work with high attention to detail and accuracy

NICE TO HAVE

Experience working with personal care, cosmetic, health or home care manufacturers

Exposure to raw material distribution or ingredient supply

Practical laboratory experience with formulation development

Prior involvement in developing marketing collateral for technical products
