Forklift Driver

Location: JHB - Wadeville

Reporting To: Operation

Seniority Level: Mid-Career (3 - 5 yrs exp)

Duties & Responsibilities

Job Purpose

To safely operate forklifts and other material handling equipment to load, unload, transport, stack, and store goods within the warehouse or production facility while ensuring compliance with safety regulations and company procedures.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate forklifts safely and efficiently to move raw materials, finished goods, and stock.
  • Load and unload trucks accurately and safely.
  • Transport materials between production, storage, and dispatch areas.
  • Stack, store, and retrieve products in designated warehouse locations.
  • Perform daily pre-use inspections of the forklift and report any defects or maintenance requirements.
  • Ensure all loads are secure, balanced, and transported without damage.
  • Assist with stock control, inventory counts, and stock rotation.
  • Complete forklift checklists and relevant documentation accurately.
  • Follow warehouse procedures and health and safety regulations at all times.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area.
  • Assist with general warehouse duties when required.
  • Work closely with warehouse, production, and logistics teams to ensure smooth operations.
  • Report accidents, near misses, damaged stock, and unsafe conditions immediately.
  • Meet productivity targets while maintaining quality and safety standards.

Minimum Requirements

  • Grade 12 (Matric).
  • Valid Forklift Operator Licence/Certificate.
  • 2–3 years' forklift operating experience in a warehouse, logistics, or manufacturing environment.
  • Good understanding of warehouse operations and inventory movement.
  • Ability to work shifts, overtime, weekends, and public holidays when required.
  • Physically fit and able to work in a demanding environment.
  • Clear criminal record (where required).
  • Reliable transport to and from work.

Knowledge and Skills

  • Safe forklift operating practices.
  • Warehouse and dispatch procedures.
  • Stock handling and inventory control.
  • Loading and unloading techniques.
  • Health and Safety Act requirements.
  • Basic inspection and preventative maintenance checks.
  • Ability to read delivery notes, picking slips, and stock documentation.

  • Attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Time management and organizational skills.
