Forklift Driver

Introduction

Our client in the packaging manufacturing industry is seeking an experienced and safety-conscious Forklift Driver to join their operations team.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the safe and efficient movement of raw materials, finished goods, pallets, and other materials between production, warehouse, storage, and dispatch areas. The role requires a valid forklift licence and practical experience operating a forklift within a manufacturing or warehouse environment.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Safely operate a forklift to move materials and finished products throughout the facility

• Load and unload trucks and delivery vehicles

• Move raw materials from receiving and storage areas to production as required

• Transfer finished goods from production to warehouse or dispatch areas

• Load pallets and finished products for customer deliveries

• Offload incoming raw materials and other stock

• Stack and store materials safely in designated warehouse locations

• Ensure stock is placed in the correct locations according to warehouse procedures

• Assist with picking and preparing stock for dispatch

• Support production teams with the movement and supply of materials

• Conduct daily pre-use inspections of the forklift

• Report mechanical faults, damage, or safety concerns immediately

• Complete relevant material movement and warehouse documentation

• Assist with cycle counts and stock counts where required

• Ensure materials and finished products are handled carefully to prevent damage

• Maintain safe stacking heights and storage practices

• Maintain good housekeeping within warehouse, production, and loading areas

• Comply with all company Health & Safety procedures and forklift operating requirements

• Assist with general warehouse duties when required

Desired Experience & Qualification

• Grade 12 / Matric advantageous

• Valid Forklift Operator Licence / Certificate – Essential

• Minimum 2–3 years' practical forklift operating experience

• Previous experience within a manufacturing, packaging, warehouse, logistics, or distribution environment

• Experience loading and unloading trucks

• Experience moving and stacking palletised goods

• Good understanding of warehouse and material-handling procedures

• Ability to work safely within busy production and warehouse environments

• Physically capable of performing general warehouse duties where required

• Willingness to work shifts, overtime, or weekends where operationally required
