Job Purpose

The Forklift Driver (Code F2) is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of a forklift to load, unload, transport, stack, and store products within the warehouse. The role ensures accurate stock handling, compliance with safety regulations, and support of operational productivity targets.

Duties & Responsibilities

Forklift Operations

• Operate a Code F2 forklift safely and efficiently in accordance with company procedures and safety standards.

• Load and unload vehicles, containers, and trailers.

• Move stock, raw materials, and finished goods to designated storage or production areas.

• Stack and retrieve pallets from racking systems without causing product damage.

• Ensure products are correctly labelled and placed in designated locations.

• Assist with stock rotation and adherence to FIFO (First In, First Out) principles.

Inventory Control

• Accurately scan and record inventory movements using RF scanners or Warehouse Management Systems (WMS).

• Verify quantities and product details against documentation.

• Support cycle counts, stock takes, and inventory audits.

• Report stock discrepancies and damaged goods promptly.

Equipment Maintenance

• Perform daily pre-operational inspections of the forklift.

• Complete equipment checklists and report any defects, breakdowns, or maintenance requirements.

• Maintain forklift cleanliness and ensure battery charging or refuelling procedures are followed correctly.

• Operate equipment in a manner that minimizes wear and damage.

Safety and Compliance

• Comply with Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) requirements and company policies.

• Wear prescribed Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at all times.

• Adhere to speed limits and warehouse traffic management rules.

• Report accidents, incidents, near misses, and unsafe conditions immediately.

• Ensure safe handling and storage of products and materials.

Housekeeping

• Maintain a clean and organized work area.

• Ensure warehouse aisles, loading zones, and emergency exits remain clear.

• Participate in housekeeping and 5S initiatives.

Desired Experience & Qualification

Education

• Grade 12 (Matric) or equivalent qualification.

Experience

• Minimum 1-2 years' experience operating a forklift in a warehouse, manufacturing, or logistics environment.

• Experience in loading, unloading, and stock movement operations.

• Experience using RF scanners and warehouse systems will be advantageous.

Qualifications and Certifications

• Valid Forklift Operator Licence (Code F2).

• Medical fitness certificate where required.

• Valid driver's licence will be advantageous

Knowledge and Skills

• Knowledge of warehouse and logistics operations.

• Understanding of safe forklift operating procedures.

• Knowledge of stock control and inventory processes.

• Ability to work accurately and efficiently.

• Good communication and teamwork skills.

• Basic numerical and record-keeping skills.

• Ability to follow instructions and standard operating procedures.
