An opportunity is available for an experienced and reliable Fleet Support Driver based at the Pretoria Depot .
The role provides dedicated driving and vehicle support to operations, including transporting staff and drivers, completing collections and deliveries, supporting vehicle movements and ensuring non-revenue vehicles are maintained in a clean, roadworthy and operationally ready condition.
The successful candidate must hold a valid Code EC driver's licence and Professional Driving Permit (PrDP) and be able to work flexible hours, shifts and standby, including early mornings, late nights and peak operational periods.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Transport staff and drivers between the depot, airport, service providers and other operational points.
- Collect and drop off drivers, including transporting drivers to collect coaches and returning them as required.
- Plan trips around flight, shift and operational requirements to ensure punctual collections and drop-offs.
- Collect and deliver documents, parcels and other items as instructed.
- Maintain accurate records of collections, deliveries and proof of receipt where required.
- Drop off and collect coaches and other vehicles at service providers for servicing, repairs and related work.
- Record vehicle condition at handover and collection and report any discrepancies.
- Conduct and record pre-trip and post-trip inspections of non-revenue vehicles (NRVs).
- Complete daily vehicle condition reports and promptly report defects, damage or incidents.
- Maintain accurate trip, fuel and vehicle inspection records and logbooks.
- Ensure NRVs are fuelled, clean and ready for daily use.
- Monitor basic vehicle requirements including oil, water, tyres and lights, and report servicing requirements.
- Shunt vehicles within the depot between fuelling, washbay, panel shop and designated parking or holding areas.
- Be available for deployment on revenue coaches or trucks during peak periods or when operationally required .
- Comply with all road traffic legislation, company driving policies, safety requirements, fatigue-management measures and authorised vehicle-use requirements.
- Represent the company professionally when dealing with staff, drivers, service providers and members of the public.
Desired Experience & Qualification
- Grade 12 / Matric.
- Valid Code EC driver's licence.
- Valid Professional Driving Permit (PrDP).
- Ability to drive safely and defensively across light vehicles, coaches and trucks.
- Knowledge of vehicle inspections and basic vehicle care.
- Sound knowledge of road traffic and safety regulations.
- Ability to maintain accurate trip, fuel and inspection records.
- Good time management and route-planning ability.
- Reliable, punctual, trustworthy and presentable.
- Good communication skills and professional conduct.
- Willing and able to work flexible hours, shifts and standby , including early mornings, late nights and peak periods.
