PURPOSE OF THE ROLE The Fleet Co-Ordinator is responsible for the national oversight, governance, and optimization of the Econofoods fleet. This role ensures that all vehicles, trailers, and associated assets are effectively managed, compliant, cost-efficient, and operationally available to support the company’s logistics and retail operations. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Asset & Fuel Management Oversee the full portfolio of fleet assets across all regions. Monitor diesel usage, consumption trends, and fuel variances. Manage fuel card systems and ensure proper allocation and reconciliation. Analyze driver behavior via telematics and implement corrective action. Vehicle Oversight & Maintenance Ensure roadworthy, licensed, and properly maintained vehicles. Own fleet uptime as a primary performance outcome, ensuring vehicles and assets are operational, compliant, and fit for purpose at all times. Minimise unplanned downtime through early risk identification, preventative action, and rapid escalation. Oversee maintenance schedules, service bookings, and breakdowns. Maintain fleet image standards. Fleet Governance, Records & Audit Readiness Maintain complete digital record-keeping. Ensure compliance with audits, licenses, COFs, inspections, and warranties. Implement systematic controls to reduce risk. Regulatory Compliance & Safety Ensure adherence to national transport and safety regulations. Lead accident investigations and corrective actions. Support safety campaigns and driver well-being initiatives. Cost & Budget Control Assist with fleet budgeting and expenditure tracking. Identify cost-saving opportunities. Support AP/Finance with fuel reconciliation. Review and analyse vehicle repair and maintenance costs to ensure they are competitive and aligned with market rates and alternative service providers. Ensure fleet assets deliver maximum productive utilisation, avoiding under-use, over-specification, or unnecessary idle time. Continuously drive down cost per kilometre through maintenance optimisation, supplier performance management, and data-led decision-making. Support fleet replacement, refurbishment, and disposal decisions based on total cost of ownership and operational impact. Technology, Telematics & Performance Monitoring Manage fleet tracking systems and performance reporting. Use telematics for efficiency and behavioral analysis. Design and implement a driver training module and incentive program. Collaboration & Communication Work closely with DC Transport Managers, Regional Managers, Finance, and People Ops. Provide national support and communication regarding fleet issues.
