A permanent role for an experienced Fleet Controller to coordinate transport activities and manage driver performance in a fast-paced environment.

The Role: Fleet Controller

The Fleet Controller is responsible for coordinating and monitoring fleet activities, managing driver performance, ensuring timely load deliveries, maintaining client relationships, and supporting daily operational requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Hold a minimum of 2 years of experience as a Fleet Controller within a freight, transport, or logistics company.
• Capture, update, and maintain planned loads on the Fleet Management System (Soloplan).
• Coordinate with planners to allocate loads to available vehicles and track load progress.
• Communicate loading instructions, operational requirements, and route changes to drivers.
• Conduct driver debriefings, monitor driver attendance, and manage planned and unplanned leave.
• Monitor diesel consumption, driver efficiency, and report poor driving performance.
• Ensure Proof of Delivery (POD) documentation is scanned via the in-cab tablet system and hard copies are submitted to the depot.
• Communicate load status with clients and report vehicle breakdowns or operational incidents to the call centre.

About You

• Minimum 2 years of experience as a Fleet Controller in a freight, transport, or logistics company.
• Minimum 2 years of experience in route planning and scheduling, truck monitoring and driver management, and client relationship management.
• Proven experience with Tautliner fleets and/or Tipper truck operations.
• Grade 12 / Matric qualification.
• Fluent in reading, writing, and communicating in both Afrikaans and English.
• Valid driver's licence and own reliable transport.
• Working knowledge of Fleet Management Systems, transport operations, and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word).
• Strong communication, organizational, problem-solving, analytical, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work under pressure, adapt to changing requirements, and remain calm during operational disruptions.
• Qualification in Transport, Logistics, Supply Chain, or a related field (nice-to-have).
• Experience with Tipper or Tau
