Join a Leading Retail Finance Team
Our client is seeking a detail-oriented Fixed Assets Accountant to join their finance team in Cape Town. This is an excellent opportunity for an accounting professional with fixed assets experience to take ownership of the fixed asset function, ensuring accurate asset accounting, compliance, and reporting across the business.
The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the full fixed assets lifecycle while supporting month-end reporting, statutory requirements, and audit processes.
Duties & Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities
Fixed Assets
- Maintain depreciation and tax asset registers across multiple entities.
- Record and capitalise new capital expenditure (Capex) assets.
- Liaise with internal stakeholders regarding store Capex expenditure.
- Prepare monthly reconciliations between the asset registers and the general ledger.
- Report on Capex expenditure by project.
- Assist with reviewing the useful lives of fixed assets.
- Perform month-end fixed asset close activities.
- Support internal and external auditors with fixed asset-related queries.
Financial Reporting & Administration
- Prepare fixed asset notes for Group and statutory Annual Financial Statements.
- Assist auditors with financial statement queries relating to fixed assets.
- Complete statutory returns, including relevant regulatory submissions.
- Capture and maintain banking details.
- Process expense journals where required.
- Process insurance invoices.
- Assist with information required for annual insurance renewals.
Desired Experience & Qualification
Minimum Requirements
- BCom degree or equivalent qualification.
- Minimum 2–3 years' experience in an accounting role, preferably with fixed assets exposure.
- Strong understanding of fixed asset accounting principles and financial reporting.
- Experience with Oracle Fixed Assets and General Ledger modules, or similar ERP systems, will be advantageous.
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills.
- Sound financial accounting knowledge.
- Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills.
- Ability to work accurately under pressure and meet strict monthly deadlines.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently.
Advantageous
- Experience using Oracle Fixed Assets.
- Experience within a retail or multi-entity environment.
