  • Tiger Brands King Foods is seeking a qualified and experienced Mechanical Fitter & Turner to join our dynamic Engineering team at our Potchefstroom plant. This role plays a vital part in ensuring plant availability, cost-effectiveness, safety compliance, and consistent product quality. The successful candidate will be responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing a variety of mechanical systems and equipment across the plant.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide specialist technical support to shift-based teams during operations.
  • Assist as a functional expert in problem-solving when requested.
  • Carry out running repairs on plant equipment as required during shifts.
  • Respond promptly to breakdowns to minimize downtime.
  • Participate actively in maintenance planning meetings, providing input, clarifying work requirements, and scheduling tasks.
  • Execute planned maintenance and contribute to developing and improving maintenance programs.
  • Always operate safely and in compliance with plant and legal requirements.
  • Proactively identify unsafe conditions or work practices and escalate for correction.
  • Ensure all maintenance work is performed in a way that supports plant safety and hygiene standards.
  • Carry out maintenance tasks to maximize plant availability and Overall Equipment Effectiveness OEE.
  • Contribute to meeting or exceeding set OEE targets.
  • Complete required maintenance reports, logs, and administrative tasks to support engineering and production performance.
  • Identify recurring mechanical failures and recommend corrective actions.

  • Trade-tested and qualified Fitter.
  • Knowledge of high-speed packaging machinery.
  • Strong understanding of production machinery or equipment.

Qualification and experience

  • Education: Matric Grade 12 with Mathematics and Science/ N3 Technical Qualification.
  • Trade: Fitter Trade Tested.
  • Experience: 3–5 years' experience in a similar role, preferably within the manufacturing, mining, oil & gas, or power generation industries
