- The Fire Sprinkler Estimator is responsible for preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates and tender submissions for fire sprinkler systems. The role includes reviewing drawings and specifications, performing quantity take-offs, obtaining supplier quotations, assessing risks, ensuring compliance with South African standards, and supporting profitable project delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Review tender documents, drawings, specifications and bills of quantities.
- Perform quantity take-offs for pipework, sprinkler heads, valves, pumps, tanks, hangers, fittings and ancillary equipment.
- Prepare accurate material, labour, plant and subcontractor cost estimates.
- Obtain supplier quotations and negotiate pricing.
- Compile complete tender submissions.
- Attend site inspections and clarification meetings.
- Liaise with clients, consultants and suppliers.
- Maintain estimating records and databases.
Technical Knowledge
- Interpret hydraulic calculations, architectural, structural and mechanical drawings.
- Understand wet, dry, deluge, pre-action, foam-water and water mist systems.
- Knowledge of fire pumps and water storage systems.
Qualifications & Experience
- Attended ASIB Course
- Minimum 5 years' fire sprinkler estimating experience.
- Knowledge of ASIB, NFPA, SANS 10287, SANS 10400-T, OHSA and local fire authority requirements.
Software
- AutoCAD
- Microsoft software: Excel, word, PDF ect
- Microsoft Projects.

- Tender accuracy, on-time submission rate, tender win rate, gross profit margin, estimate turnaround time, client satisfaction and compliance.
