Job Title: Fire Engineer Start Date: 2026-08-31 - 2026-09-30 Vacancy Type: Permanent JHB000389 Sectors: Engineering and Technical Location: Gauteng , Tshwane (Pretoria) Salary: (Market related, Negotiable) Brief: building services|civil engineer|design engineer|electrical engineer|fire engineer|infrastructure|mechanical engineer A leader in the Fire Suppression Systems field, is looking for a qualified Project Engineer ( Fire Design and system implementation ) to join their dynamic team ASAP. The person can be based in Pretoria or in Cape Town. The role is predominantly virtual/remote except for the onsite client work, which will require travel to client sites. This position offers challenging projects within different industries (mining, industrial, building services, etc.) Detail: Degree in Engineering as a minimum - BTech / BEng / BSc Eng or similar related qualification 2-4+ years of experience with the below: Design and install fire suppression and detection systems in various industries Mining industry experience recommended, but not essential Fire plan preparation and submission Sprinkler system design and implementation Sprinkler hydraulics Smoke control calculations Fire detection system design Rational fire design with reference to BS 7974 and the supporting PDs Prior Knowledge of international sprinkler codes such as NFPA & FM Global will be advantageous Well-versed with engineering design software Performance based engineering (hands on experience with the actual engineering side of things) Engineering Project Management of a fire protection system installation (Stage 5) Looking for someone who can hit the ground running. This requires as a minimum to have experience in drafting fire plans according to SANS 10400-T and the associated supporting SANS codes, as well as interfacing with the fire departments during the approval process. Performance Based Designs ( Rational Designs ) require an in depth understanding of fire engineering. It is highly recommended to understand the concept of Rational Design. The client may request to see evidence of Sprinkler hydraulic designs (pump and tank sizing) as well as smoke control design (Fire growth and size, Heat Release Rate, smoke generation and smoke fill rate calculations) coupled with ASET and RSET evaluations. Own transport, valid driver's license and willingness to travel to clients when required Medically fit and willing to work on mining and construction sites Remuneration: Negotiable depending on qualifications and experience Interested and qualified?
