• Our client operates a large, operationally driven services business where finance doesn't operate in isolation. With managers across different areas of the business relying on finance to keep processes moving, this is a role that demands more than technical accounting, you need to understand the operation, challenge what doesn't make sense and make sure people follow through.

• Reporting directly to the Financial Director, you'll take ownership of the finance function and lead a team of 2 direct and 3 indirect reports. Your remit spans the complete financial cycle, from daily financial controls and trial balance management through to month-end close, budgeting, forecasting, payroll, tax and SARS compliance.

• The real differentiator? The people and the pace. You'll work with a wide range of operational managers, each with their own priorities and pressures. You'll need the technical grounding to know when the numbers don't stack up, the operational understanding to find out why, and the emotional intelligence to get the right people around the table and drive the issue through to resolution.

Key Responsibilities

• Full trial balance management across daily, weekly, monthly and annual reporting cycles

• Month-end close and financial reporting

• Full annual budgeting process and ongoing forecasting

• Tax, SARS compliance and statutory financial requirements

• Payroll oversight and related financial processes

• Operational finance processes and continuous improvement

• Financial controls, reconciliations and reporting accuracy

• Follow-up and accountability across in-company managers

• Financial and operational problem-solving with various business stakeholders

• Management and development of 2 direct reports, with oversight of 3 indirect reports

• Financial support and reporting to the Financial Director

Job Experience and Skills Required

• BCom Accounting

• 2–4 years' experience in a Financial Manager

• Experience within the security or services industry preferred

• Candidates from catering, cleaning, facilities or similar operational service environments will be considered

• Strong operational understanding, you need to understand how the business works beyond the finance department

• Proven experience across trial balance, month-end, budgeting and forecasting

• Strong tax and SARS compliance knowledge

• Payroll experience

• Advanced Excel

• Pastel Evolution advantageous, but not essential

• Proven ability to manage and engage different levels of operational management

• Deadline-driven with strong follow-through

• Solutions- and outcome-driven

• High emotional intelligence and the confidence to hold people accountable

• Comfortable working onsite in Johannesburg South
