Start free — we apply for you →A leading organisation is seeking an experienced Financial Controller to provide overall financial management for the region and strategic financial support to the Procurement Division.
The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring sound financial controls, accurate reporting, regulatory compliance and effective financial decision-making across the business.
This role is based in Tulisa Park, Johannesburg South.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and review accurate management accounts and financial reports
- Manage and maintain effective financial controls
- Ensure compliance with VAT, Tax, Customs, IFRS, company policies, procedures and risk requirements
- Identify and implement corrective measures where non-compliance is identified
- Maintain the integrity and accuracy of financial systems
- Lead, manage and develop finance staff
- Manage CAPEX applications and related financial processes
- Ensure debtors, creditors and fixed asset records are accurate and up to date
- Resolve outstanding and reconciling items on debtors and creditors
- Approve UCR numbers for indirect exports
- Ensure compliance with stock management procedures
- Monitor expenditure against group policies and approved budgets
- Ensure appropriate policies, procedures and SOPs are implemented and adhered to
- Manage month-end, interim and year-end accounting processes
- Ensure intercompany accounts are reconciled and balanced monthly
- Prepare and manage budgets and forecasts
- Prepare the weekly financial flash
- Manage payment processes for waste and trade creditors
- Provide financial input into commercial decisions
- Support senior procurement and branch management with financial decision-making
- Provide financial assistance and support on ad hoc projects and requests
Job Experience and Skills Required
- BCom or relevant Commercial Degree
- CIMA qualification will be advantageous
- Minimum 5 years management experience in a financial position
- Experience within a stock and import/expert environment is advantageous
- ERP experience; JD Edwards will be advantageous
