Financial Accountant

Primary purpose of the job To effectively administer the activities of the accounting department; to ensure effective and efficient management of the accounting functions as a whole. Main Responsibilities a) Managing Accounts receivable Ensuring the completeness of revenue recognition, all invoices are posted real-time accurate and complete Supervising the credit controllers in managing customer accounts, tracking payments, reconciling discrepancies, communicating with customers regarding outstanding balances, and working closely with other departments like sales and operations to ensure smooth financial operations. Supervising customer postings rebates, discounts and other customer accounts adjustments. Communication and resolving with Sales managers on overdue accounts and account queries. Calculation of general Debtors provision and Estimated Credit loss (ECL) provisions. Ensuring that proof of Sale delivery records is kept and confirmed by branches in SAP b) Accounting for Tax Reconciling and submission of VAT returns as required Reconciling and submitting VAT and Other Tax returns timeously Managing value-added tax (VAT) requirements for businesses, including calculating VAT, preparing VAT returns, ensuring compliance with VAT regulations, and providing advice on VAT-related issues. Liaising with tax authorities on behalf of the company and staying up to date on changes in VAT legislation. Assisting in submission of income tax returns, provision taxes, and other statutory returns Submission of employee 3trd party returns and payments, (e.g. PAYE, NAPSA, NHIMA, pension funds, etc) c) Lease Liabilities Accounting for finance leases (IFRS 16) Amortization of leases (interest accrual and accounting for lease payments) d) Managing Stock Goods receipt posting and verification Manage Inventory Management and stock movements to ensure SAP inventory is accurate daily Conducting physical inventory and stock reconciliations Coordinating and reporting of all the stock counts results for all Branches Accounting for obsolete and slow-moving stock Ensure the costing of all materials is 100% e) Reporting Preparing daily and weekly reports as required by the business Preparing monthly management accounts. Assist in the preparation of annual financial statements. Provide financial reports and interpret financial information to managerial staff. Submitting information as required by business and Group f) General Ledger accuracy Reconciling of ALL balance sheet items to ensure completeness and accuracy (preparation of monthly recon file) Coordinating accounting functions and programs. Ensuring that all "manual process documents are reconciled by branches and updated in SAP Manage all accounting transactions Comply with Group and Company financial policies and regulations Maintain accounting controls by preparing and recommending policies and procedures Forex and Month end SAP processed to be checked and run on SAP g) Managing Vendors Processing purchase requisitions and purchase orders Ensuring the completeness of all vendors processing in SAP Supervising the Financial Controllers in processing all vendor documents on SAP daily, and working closely with other departments like sales and operations to ensure smooth financial operations. Monitoring open purchase orders and delivery schedules Ensuring that Vendor invoices / records are kept and saved on defined locations as required for SAP processing and audit purposes. h) Managing Treasury Management of petty cash Cash receipting and bank deposits Payment posting Bank reconciliation i) Managing Employees Manage the Financial Controllers to achieve their KPI's Key competencies and skills: Corporate governance knowledge Company law regulation knowledge Strong accounting and admin skills Excellent numeracy skills People management skills Negotiation skills Risk management Exercising judgement Prioritizes demands Experience of managing computerized accounts systems.
