Duties & Responsibilities

Main job function

To provide support to the Finance Department while gaining practical experience in

accounting, financial reporting, taxation, budgeting, treasury, and business operations. The internship is designed to develop future finance professionals through exposure to various finance functions and systems.

Key Responsibilities

The Graduate Finance Intern may assist with and will be trained to perform the following:

Financial Reporting

  • Preparation of monthly reconciliations.
  • General ledger reviews.
  • Journal processing.
  • Preparation of management reports.

Accounts Payable

  • Supplier reconciliations.
  • Processing invoices.
  • Following up on outstanding documentation.

Accounts Receivable

  • Customer reconciliations.
  • Debtor collections support.

Treasury

  • Cashbook processing.
  • Bank reconciliations.

Tax Compliance

  • Tax schedule preparation.
  • Supporting SARS submissions.

Audit Support

  • Preparation of audit files.
  • Gathering supporting documentation.
  • Assisting with external audit requests.

Contract Duration

  • Internship Period: 12 to 24 months.
  • Possibility of permanent employment based on performance and business requirements.

Desired Experience & Qualification

Minimum Qualifications

Essential

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance
  • Strong academic record.

Advantageous

  • Honours Degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • Advanced Excel certification.

Technical Competencies

The candidate should demonstrate

Accounting Knowledge

  • Understanding basic accounting principles.
  • Knowledge of double-entry bookkeeping.
  • Understanding of financial statements.
  • Basic knowledge of IFRS and IFRS for SMEs.

Tax Knowledge

  • Basic understanding of:
  • VAT
  • Corporate Income Tax

Financial Analysis

  • Ability to analyze financial information.
  • Strong numerical and analytical skills.
  • Attention to detail. Systems Knowledge Proficiency in:
  • Microsoft Excel
  • Microsoft Word
  • Microsoft Outlook Advantageous:
  • MDA
  • Build smart
  • Microsoft
