Festive, one of South Africa's leading integrated poultry producers within the Astral Group, is looking for Refrigeration Foreman in the Refrigeration department commercial division. The role will focus on ensuring the safe, continuous and efficient operation of industrial cooling systems required to chill and preserve poultry products.
The ideal candidate would be responsible for
- Management and supervise the Refrigeration team and plant operation.
- Responsible for the ammonia refrigeration plant operation, maintenance, improvement and availability.
- Conduct routine inspections, repairs and maintenance to prevent breakdowns and ensure uptime.
- Maintaining discipline and time-keeping.
- Responsible for purchasing requisitions and spares control.
- Responsibility for Health & Safety in his department.
- Implementing of 20 Keys/ HACCP / Risk Control and apply general housekeeping rules.
- Contractor Management.
- Cost control and reporting of deviations, daily reports.
- Training of staff to comply with legislation.
- Standby duties.
The successful candidate must meet the following requirements
- N6 Diploma and Qualified Artisan preferably in Ammonia Refrigeration.
- In possession of Competency certificate for ammonia plant to register as a level 2 (CAT B Ammonia License) is essential.
- Safe handling and Response of ammonia training.
- At least 5 years’ experience in ammonia maintenance and projects.
- Proven experience in a supervisory or foreman role.
- Be prepared to work shifts and or weekends and overtime.
- Strong people management skills.
- Well organised with good administrative and communication skills.
- Computer literate and able to work under pressure.
- Be prepared to work shifts including working extra hours, standby and call outs.
- Must have own reliable transport.
