Festive, one of South Africa's leading integrated poultry producers within the Astral Group, is looking for Processing Shift Manager in the processing plant to manage all production, hygiene and staffing operations during a specific work shift to meet daily volume and safety goals in the processing plant.

The ideal candidate would be responsible for

  • Management of a division in the Processing Plant ensuring optimal throughput of volumes while maintaining OEEs and product quality.
  • Oversee end-to-end processing in the processing including live bird receiving, slaughter, evisceration, chilling, grading, and packaging.
  • Lead shift Production managers, supervisors and line workers.
  • Manage shift schedules and drive labour efficiency.
  • Collaborate with maintenance teams to fix machine breakdowns quickly.
  • Monitoring overall performance of department to meet production efficiencies and targets, yield, quality goals while maintaining a safe working environment.
  • Compile weekly, daily reports based on shift performance, challenges and positives.
  • Handle non-conformances, corrective actions and root cause analysis
  • Enforce food safety, health & safety, and housekeeping (GMP)
  • Assist in implementing and maintaining audit systems and policies.
  • Implement operational excellence best practices in line with 20 Keys
  • General staff management including upholding good staff discipline, time management and training.
  • Ensuring effective utilization of human resources by training subordinates, motivating consistent performances and developing for potential promotions.

The successful candidate must meet the following requirements

  • A tertiary qualification in Production Management, Food Science and/or a related field.
  • 5 – 10 years’ experience in the FMCG environment within a similar role.
  • The successful candidate must be proactive, have good management, communication and interpersonal skills as well as problem solving and planning skills.
  • Must be able to manage a diverse and large work force.
  • Must be computer literate – Excel, production reporting.
  • Must be prepared to work long shifts in a cold/wet environment, weekends, public holidays and overtime.
