Introduction

Karan Beef Farming (Pty) Ltd has the following vacancy in Albert Falls

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Feedmill Manager to lead and manage all aspects of our feedmill operations. This role is responsible for ensuring the efficient production of high-quality livestock feed while maintaining the highest standards of quality, safety, cost control, and operational performance. The successful candidate will provide strong leadership to the production team, optimise feedmill processes, and drive continuous improvement across all operational activities.

Duties & Responsibilities

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO

  • Manage the daily operations of the feedmill to achieve production targets.
  • Plan and coordinate production schedules to meet operational requirements.
  • Ensure the production of feed complies with quality and nutritional specifications.
  • Monitor production efficiency and implement continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Oversee preventative maintenance programmes to maximise equipment reliability and minimise downtime.
  • Manage raw material inventory and ensure accurate stock control.
  • Monitor production costs and identify opportunities for cost savings.
  • Lead, mentor and develop supervisors and production staff.
  • Ensure compliance with Occupational Health and Safety legislation, GMP, HACCP and company standards.
  • Prepare daily, weekly and monthly operational reports for management.
  • Work closely with Procurement, Maintenance, Quality Assurance and Feedlot Operations to ensure efficient production.
  • Budgeting and Cost Center controls
  • Management of outside Feedmill and Holding Station sites, reporting back to Top Management
  • Systems requirement assessments to create and implement systems within the overall Feed Department
  • Direct communication with suppliers on supply and procurement issues
  • Feed logistics management

Desired Experience & Qualification

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Degree or Diploma in Animal Science, Agriculture, Production Management, Operations Management, or a related field.
  • At least 3–5 years' management experience within a feed manufacturing operation.
  • Sound knowledge of feed production processes, quality assurance and inventory management.
  • Experience with preventative maintenance planning and production optimisation.
  • Computer literacy with experience using Microsoft Office and ERP systems.
  • Strong numeracy, accounting and business skills, accuracy and attention to detail are paramount
  • Ability to set up Management and Control Systems from the ground up to implementation and continual systems maintenance
  • Strong Budgeting and Departmental Cost Control ability
  • Willing to work weekends, shifts and overtime and able to travel
  • Excellent communication and skills from staff, through to Top Management and suppliers
