This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on facilities professional with proven experience managing multiple commercial and retail properties, contractor performance, technical building services, maintenance operations, compliance, and operational budgets. If you have a strong background in commercial property, retail property, facilities management, building maintenance, and operations management, this role offers the opportunity to work across a diverse property portfolio while supporting Property Managers and delivering exceptional operational standards. About the Role As the Facilities Manager, you will oversee the day-to-day facilities management and technical operations of a portfolio of commercial and retail buildings. Working closely with the Head of Facilities and Property Managers, you will ensure that all properties are maintained to the highest standards through proactive maintenance planning, contractor management, statutory compliance, financial control, and tenant service delivery. This role is ideal for a proactive facilities professional who enjoys managing multiple sites, solving technical challenges, improving building performance, and delivering operational excellence. Detail: Key Responsibilities Facilities & Building Operations Manage the day-to-day operations of multiple commercial and retail properties Oversee planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance programmes Ensure buildings remain safe, compliant, and fully operational Conduct regular building inspections and identify maintenance requirements Monitor the condition of building infrastructure and associated assets Technical Building Services Oversee electrical, mechanical, plumbing, HVAC, fire protection, and general building systems Ensure maintenance schedules are completed in line with operational requirements Monitor Building Management Systems (BMS) where applicable Ensure all statutory servicing and certification requirements are maintained Contractor & Project Management Manage contractors, suppliers, and specialist service providers Coordinate repair, refurbishment, and maintenance projects Monitor contractor performance against service level agreements (SLAs) Review quotations and authorise work in accordance with company procedures Ensure projects are completed safely, on time, and within budget Health, Safety & Compliance Ensure compliance with Occupational Health & Safety legislation and building regulations Maintain accurate compliance records and statutory certifications Identify operational risks and implement corrective actions Ensure quality assurance procedures are consistently maintained Financial Management Manage maintenance budgets and control operational expenditure Monitor repair and maintenance costs across the portfolio Review invoices, quotations, and contractor claims Support financial planning and cost-saving initiatives Tenant & Stakeholder Management Build strong relationships with tenants, Property Managers, contractors, and suppliers Respond promptly to tenant maintenance requests and operational queries Deliver exceptional customer service across the property portfolio Provide regular operational and maintenance reporting to management Minimum Requirements Minimum 5 years' experience in Facilities Management, Building Management, or Property Operations Proven experience managing multiple commercial and retail properties Strong understanding of electrical, mechanical, plumbing, HVAC, fire protection, and general building infrastructure Experience managing contractors, service providers, and maintenance programmes Strong knowledge of Health & Safety legislation and statutory compliance Experience managing maintenance budgets and operational expenditure Knowledge of Building Management Systems (BMS) is advantageous Experience with MDA, RedRabbit, MS Office, or similar property management systems will be advantageous Diploma or Degree in Facilities Management, Building Science, Mechanical Engineering, Project Management, or a related field is advantageous Key Competencies Facilities Management Commercial Property Retail Property Building Management Property Maintenance Building Operations Multiple Site Management Preventative Maintenance Contractor Management Project Management HVAC Electrical Systems Mechanical Systems Plumbing Fire Protection Building Management Systems (BMS) Health & Safety Compliance Budget Management SLA Management Asset Management Tenant Relationship Management Property Operations Who We're Looking For We're looking for a motivated facilities professional who: Has extensive experience managing multiple commercial and retail buildings Is technically competent across building services and maintenance disciplines Thrives in a fast-paced property environment Has strong leadership and contractor management skills Is highly organised with excellent problem-solving ability Takes pride in delivering exceptional operational standards and customer service Why Apply?
