The Caretakers is recruiting skilled and properly trained Gardeners with proven commercial, estate or complex gardening experience.
IMPORTANT: This is not an entry-level or general-worker position. Applicants who do not meet every requirement below should not apply.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
* South African citizenship is compulsory
* Must possess a valid South African smart ID card
* At least 3 years’ verifiable, on-site gardening experience
* Valid gardening, landscaping or horticultural training certificate
* Contactable references from previous employers
* Proven knowledge of lawn care, pruning, hedge trimming, planting, weeding and soil preparation
* Ability to identify common plants, weeds, pests and plant diseases
* Experience operating gardening machinery and equipment safely
* Ability to work independently and maintain professional standards
VERIFICATION AND ASSESSMENT
Shortlisted applicants will be required to
* Present their original South African smart ID card for verification
* Produce original or independently verifiable training certificates
* Provide contact details for previous employers
* Complete a practical gardening assessment
* Pass employment-history and reference checks
Citizenship, qualifications and experience will be verified. No appointment will be made if any information or documentation cannot be confirmed.
WORKING HOURS AND SALARY
* 156 ordinary working hours per month
* Gross salary: R5,000 per month
* Effective ordinary rate: Approximately R32.05 per hour
* Overtime, Sunday work and public-holiday work will be paid according to applicable labour legislation
