We have since expanded into Mozambique, Ghana, Guinea, Zambia and Zimbabwe, and continue to grow our presence throughout sub-Saharan Africa.

Today, our primary focus is power tools. We operate what is possibly the largest dedicated physical power-tool store in South Africa, supported by our growing e-commerce platform.

Duties & Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for

• Maintaining the complete cashbook and performing regular bank reconciliations.

• Managing debtors, including invoicing, allocations, reconciliations, collections and age analysis.

• Managing creditors, including invoice processing, supplier reconciliations and payment preparation.

• Processing and reconciling transactions through to trial balance.

• Maintaining the general ledger and resolving incorrect or unmatched entries.

• Preparing monthly management accounts and supporting schedules.

• Preparing cash-flow forecasts and monitoring daily cash requirements.

• Processing and reconciling VAT, including assisting with VAT returns.

• Recording and reconciling foreign-currency transactions and exchange-rate differences.

• Maintaining the fixed-asset register and processing depreciation.

• Reconciling financial information between Xero, inFlow Inventory and Shopify.

• Investigating discrepancies between sales, inventory, payments and accounting records.

• Producing accurate Excel reports and financial analyses for management.

• Assisting with month-end and year-end procedures, audits and requests from accountants.

• Maintaining organised financial records and ensuring that reporting deadlines are met.

Desired Experience & Qualification

• Diploma or degree in Accounting, Bookkeeping or a related financial field.

• At least three years’ relevant bookkeeping or accounting experience.

• Strong practical experience working up to trial balance.

• Proven experience with debtors, creditors, cashbooks and bank reconciliations.

• Good working knowledge of VAT and South African accounting requirements.

• Experience with foreign-currency transactions will be advantageous.

• Strong Excel skills are essential.

• Experience with Xero is strongly preferred.

• Experience with inFlow Inventory, Shopify, Sage Evolution, Pastel or similar systems will be advantageous.

• Experience in a retail, e-commerce, inventory-based or high-volume transactional business will be advantageous.

• Contactable and reliable references are required.
