  • Seeking a hands-on EVA Injection Moulding Supervisor / Technician to operate, set up, troubleshoot and maintain EVA shoe-sole injection moulding machinery while supervising the production team.
  • This role combines practical machine fault-finding and repair with production supervision, operator training, quality control, safety and the achievement of daily production targets.
  • This is not a purely supervisory position. The successful candidate must personally diagnose and repair hydraulic, mechanical, basic electrical, temperature-control, injection and material-feeding faults. Candidates unable to troubleshoot and repair injection moulding machinery will not be suitable.

Minimum Requirements

  • Grade 12 / Matric or equivalent; a mechanical, electrical, fitter or millwright qualification will be advantageous.
  • Minimum 3 to 5 years' practical experience with injection moulding machinery; EVA footwear or sole production, Chinese EVA machines, mould changes and EVA raw materials will be highly advantageous.
  • Demonstrated ability to diagnose machine faults, carry out first-line repairs and return machinery to production - essential.
  • Strong mechanical and hydraulic troubleshooting experience, including pumps, valves, cylinders, hoses, motors, couplings and bearings.
  • Basic electrical and PLC fault-finding ability covering switches, sensors, relays, contactors, wiring, heating elements and temperature controllers.
  • Able to set operating parameters, injection pressure, timing, temperatures, hydraulic pressure and moulding cycles.
  • Experience supervising production employees, allocating staff, monitoring performance and training machine operators.
  • Able to identify production and quality problems caused by the machine, mould, material, operator or process.
  • Able to read technical manuals, keep accurate records and follow machine-safety, isolation, PPE, guarding, emergency-stop and hydraulic-pressure-release procedures.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Start, operate and shut down EVA injection moulding machines correctly and ensure consistent, safe production output.
  • Set and adjust machine parameters, injection pressure, timing, temperatures, hydraulic pressure, moulding cycles, moulds and material feeding.
  • Monitor production cycles and identify abnormal noises, leaks, pressure changes, temperature fluctuations and other signs of machine failure.
  • Diagnose hydraulic, mechanical, electrical, temperature-control, injection-system and material-feeding faults and carry out repairs or adjustments within the limits of competence.
  • Safely isolate machinery, identify the likely cause and provide accurate technical information when specialist assistance is required, then assist with and test completed repairs.
  • Complete daily machine inspections and preventative maintenance covering oil levels, lubrication, hoses, fittings, electrical connections, pumps, motors, heating systems, clamping systems, safety switches and emergency stops.
  • Identify worn components before failure, maintain the preventative-maintenance schedule and keep accurate breakdown, repair and maintenance records.
  • Allocate operators and production employees to machines and workstations and ensure production schedules and daily targets are followed.
  • Monitor attendance, punctuality, machine utilisation, hourly output, downtime, bottlenecks, material wastage, rejection rates and employee productivity.
  • Train operators on the correct and safe use of machinery, prevent unauthorised machine adjustments and ensure only competent employees operate equipment.
  • Inspect finished EVA products for incomplete injection, deformation, bubbles, overheating, colour, dimensions, surface defects, flash, weight and mould-definition problems.
  • Determine whether quality defects are caused by the machine, material, mould, operator or process and implement corrective action.
  • Enforce PPE, guarding, emergency-stop, housekeeping and machine-isolation requirements and immediately stop unsafe work practices.
  • Report accidents, near misses, dangerous conditions, significant production failures and extended breakdowns to management without delay.
  • Maintain daily production, machine-operation, downtime, wastage, quality, rejection, attendance and inspection records and submit accurate reports to management.
