Introduction

On-Site Estate Operations & Maintenance

We are seeking a reliable, practical and hands-on Estate Caretaker to join our residential Estate team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the day-to-day on-site upkeep, maintenance and general operations of the Estate, ensuring that the grounds, common areas, equipment and infrastructure are maintained to a high standard.

This is a hands-on position requiring a strong on-site presence, practical maintenance ability and the initiative to identify and report problems before they become major issues.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Conduct daily inspections of the Estate and common areas.
  • Oversee general grounds, gardens, roads, walkways and common-area maintenance.
  • Perform and/or coordinate basic maintenance and repairs.
  • Supervise and allocate daily duties to Estate general workers.
  • Monitor the condition and operation of Estate equipment and infrastructure.
  • Assist with the monitoring and maintenance of septic tanks, wastewater systems, pumps and related infrastructure.
  • Identify faults, maintenance requirements and potential hazards and report these to management.
  • Coordinate access and provide on-site assistance to contractors and service providers.
  • Monitor the quality and completion of routine maintenance work.
  • Ensure appropriate housekeeping, safety and PPE standards are maintained.
  • Maintain basic daily maintenance and inspection records.
  • Respond appropriately to operational issues and emergencies.
  • Maintain a professional and helpful relationship with residents, contractors, staff and management.

Desired Experience & Qualification

The ideal candidate will have

  • Previous experience in property maintenance, estate management, facilities, construction, grounds maintenance or a similar environment.
  • A practical, hands-on approach and good general maintenance knowledge.
  • The ability to supervise and coordinate general workers.
  • Good problem-solving and organisational skills.
  • The ability to work independently and take initiative.
  • Good communication skills.
  • A strong sense of responsibility and accountability.
  • A valid driver's licence is required.
  • Practical experience, reliability and a strong work ethic will be highly valued.
  • The successful candidate must take pride in the Estate and understand the importance of identifying problems, taking appropriate action and communicating issues promptly to management.
