- Develop and implement environmental policies and procedures in accordance with relevant regulations and standards.
- Conduct regular environmental audits and assessments to identify potential risks and areas for improvement.
- Monitor and track environmental performance metrics to measure progress and identify opportunities for sustainability initiatives.
- Coordinate with internal teams and external stakeholders to promote environmental awareness and best practices.
- Prepare and submit environmental reports to regulatory agencies as required.
- Stay current on environmental laws, regulations, and industry trends to ensure compliance and best practices are maintained.
- Oversee the planning and implementation of environmental projects, including water conservation and demand management, waste management, and energy efficiency initiatives.
- Conduct training and awareness sessions for employees on environmental issues and best practices.
- Be conversant with ESG requirements. Support monitoring activities, including tracking Barberton Mines ESG commitments.
Requirements
- Recognized Degree in Environmental Management, Environmental Science, or a related technical discipline.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in environmental compliance and management
- Knowledge of local environmental regulations and standards
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively with a team
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office
- Advanced computer literacy
- Valid driver's license
- Valid certificate of physical fitness
