- We are looking for a qualified and experienced Enrolled Nurse to join a healthcare and laboratory environment.
- The successful candidate will be responsible for accurate patient and specimen collection while maintaining high standards of patient care, safety, quality and compliance.
Key Responsibilities
- Confirm patient identity and verify test requests.
- Explain specimen collection procedures to patients.
- Perform venepuncture and collect specimens accurately.
- Ensure the correct specimen tubes are used.
- Correctly label and handle specimens.
- Maintain specimen integrity and minimise specimen rejection.
- Ensure timely transportation of specimens.
- Identify and report unsuitable specimens.
- Follow infection control and PPE requirements.
- Maintain patient confidentiality and accurate collection records.
- Monitor consumables and report stock shortages.
- Maintain equipment and participate in quality assurance processes.
- Provide professional and patient-focused service.
Requirements
- SANC registration as an Enrolled Nurse.
- Recognised Phlebotomy qualification/training.
- Minimum 2 years' relevant phlebotomy experience.
- Competent in venepuncture.
- Relevant registration/accreditation.
- Strong patient service and communication skills.
- PHC or laboratory experience is highly preferred.
