This includes oversight of construction, electrical, plumbing, maintenance, workshop, and security functions. The role ensures that all physical assets — including production facilities, processing plants, utilities, and support infrastructure — are developed, operated, and maintained to the highest standards of safety, reliability, operational efficiency, and regulatory compliance. Key Responsibilities Strategic Leadership & Planning Develop and implement a business-wide engineering and asset management strategy aligned with operational objectives and growth plans. Support executive leadership with infrastructure planning, risk management, and capital project forecasting. Drive innovation in construction methods, energy systems, and maintenance practices to improve efficiency and sustainability. Construction Management Lead the in-house construction team responsible for civil works and infrastructure development. Ensure all projects are delivered on time, within budget, and in line with structural, operational, and biosecurity standards. Oversee contractor engagement, site supervision, and compliance with safety and environmental requirements. Electrical Management Manage electrical teams responsible for low-voltage and high-voltage systems. Ensure effective operation and compliance of power generation systems, including backup generation and renewable energy solutions. Lead initiatives focused on energy efficiency, electrical safety, and load optimisation. Maintenance Management Oversee maintenance teams responsible for repair and upkeep of all production and operational infrastructure. Ensure proactive preventative maintenance schedules are implemented to minimise downtime. Support operational teams by prioritising critical repairs and biosecurity-sensitive maintenance activities. Plumbing, Workshop & Security Oversight Ensure reliable operation of water supply, waste systems, and environmental compliance. Manage central workshop operations supporting fabrication, repairs, and spare parts availability. Oversee security operations, including access control, surveillance systems, and contractor monitoring. Compliance & Safety Ensure full compliance with WHS, building codes, electrical standards, fire safety, and biosecurity regulations. Lead safety and risk assessments across all engineering functions. Prepare for and participate in regulatory, certification, and compliance audits. Project & Asset Management Oversee the design, tendering, and execution of capital works and infrastructure upgrades. Implement asset lifecycle management practices to extend infrastructure lifespan. Maintain accurate records of asset condition, service history, and compliance. Financial Management Develop and manage departmental budgets, including operational and capital expenditure. Monitor project costs, identify cost-saving opportunities, and ensure value-for-money procurement. People Management Lead and manage multidisciplinary engineering teams and support service departments. Ensure effective performance management, skills development, and workforce planning across direct and indirect reports. Detail: Role Requirements Qualifications & Experience Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Civil, Electrical, Mechanical, or related discipline). Minimum of 15 years’ progressive leadership experience in engineering, maintenance, or infrastructure roles. Proven experience managing large, multidisciplinary teams and complex capital projects in agricultural, food, or industrial environments. Strong financial acumen with experience in budgeting, cost control, and capital project management. Experience with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement methodologies is advantageous. Skills & Competencies Exceptional leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
