Start free — we apply for you →Key Responsibilities: Buying & Sourcing Source engineering and technical materials for all maintenance (including selected laboratory related maintenance), utilities supply, engineering and selected laboratory consumables, CAPEX projects, and production support items. Obtain quotations, initiate approvals, and co-ordinate onboarding (including new vendors) with Procurement. Identify and evaluate alternative suppliers for spare parts or project materials. Raise purchase requisitions, track deliveries, and verify invoices. Identify and evaluate alternatives suppliers for spares and components. Raise purchase requisitions for all engineering and OHSE related SLA and maintenance contracts and monitor renewal dates. Ensure received materials meet specifications, quantities, and quality standards. Collaborate with production and engineering teams to anticipate material needs. Maintain accurate purchasing records and support budget forecasting. Monitor slow-moving/obsolete stock and minimize emergency purchases. Suggest changes to stock levels and stock items to Engineering Management for approval. Optimize working capital is tied up in inventory. Engineering Spares and Stores Management Maintain optimal stock levels of all spare parts and consumables. Identify and classify critical vs. non-critical spares. Prevent stock-outs that could disrupt production or project completion. Supervise the operation of the Engineering Store to ensure efficient operation. GMP & Regulatory Compliance Ensure compliance with South African Health Products Regulatory Authority (SAHPRA) requirements. Align inventory practices with World Health Organization (WHO) GMP guidelines where applicable. Maintain traceability of parts used on GMP-critical equipment. Support audit readiness (internal, customer, and regulatory audits). Inventory Control & Systems Use ERP systems (e.g., SAP) to: Issue and receive engineering stock Conduct cycle counts Perform stock reconciliations Maintain accurate spare parts lists for equipment/ system. Track minimum and maximum stock levels. 4. Maintenance Support Work closely with Engineering & Maintenance teams. Ensure availability of spares for: Preventative maintenance Breakdown maintenance Shutdown activities Capex Projects Participate in shutdown planning and material forecasting. Qualifications & Experience: Diploma, degree, or relevant technical/engineering qualification (certificate or diploma) in Supply Chain, Engineering, or Logistics would be advantageous. Grade 12 (Matric) with Mathematics. 2–5 years’ experience in procurement or stores management in a pharmaceutical, API, or regulated manufacturing environment. Knowledge of API manufacturing processes, technical materials, and GMP requirements. Proficiency in ERP/inventory management systems. Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills. Forklift truck license is an advantage. Additional Information Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) will be considered. Key Competencies: Strong operational and organizational skills.
