Position

Job Title:  Electrician / Panel Wireman – Production

Department:  Electrical

Employment Environment:  Factory / Production

Salary:  Market- Related, depending on qualification and experience.

Location: Bellville, Western Cape

Role Overview

The successful candidate will be responsible for working within the Electrical Department as part of a production team. The role involves wiring electrical chassis and control systems according to wiring diagrams and preparing equipment while it is being assembled.

The position also includes electrical fault-finding, repairs and maintenance on bakery equipment and other electrical equipment throughout the plant.

Requirements

The successful candidate must meet the following requirements

Qualified  Electrician with Red Seal .

Wireman’s Licence  required

N6 National Diploma in Electrical Engineering  preferred.

Proven experience in  3-phase control circuits and switchgear wiring .

Experience in  panel/chassis wiring  and electrical control systems.

Ability to accurately read and work from  electrical wiring diagrams, BOMs and sample chassis .

Experience with electrical fault-finding and repairs.

PLC installation and programming  experience would be an advantage.

Previous experience in a  factory, manufacturing or production environment  is preferred.

Must be a strong  team player  and able to work effectively within an established electrical team.

Must be reliable, punctual and have a strong record of  daily attendance .

Must have  reliable own transport .

Must be able to adapt to the company's production environment, procedures and working culture.

Must demonstrate responsible and professional workplace conduct, including  sober work habits .

Candidates must be willing to undergo  reference, criminal record and medical checks .

Key Performance Areas

Wire electrical chassis and control systems according to wiring diagrams.

Work according to  BOMs, wiring diagrams and sample chassis .

Complete electrical wiring accurately and to the required quality standards.

Conduct continuous assessment of raw materials and consumables.

Perform quality control and final inspections.

Identify and repair electrical faults on imported products and production equipment.

Work closely with the Production and Electrical teams.

Maintain good discipline and comply with company policies and procedures.

Continuously develop technical skills and knowledge relevant to the role.

Plant Electrical Maintenance

The successful candidate will also be responsible for assisting with plant electrical maintenance, including:

Fault-finding and repairs on electrical hand tools.

Maintenance and repairs on machinery.

Maintenance and repairs on welding machines.

Inspection and repair of extension leads.

Inspection and maintenance of DB boards.

General electrical fault-finding throughout the premises.

Safety Responsibilities

Follow all workplace health and safety procedures.

Correctly use all safety equipment provided.

Attend safety meetings.

Conduct safety inspections.

Complete required safety reports.

Maintain a safe and compliant working environment.

Employment Conditions & Benefits

Probation:  3 months.

Pay:  Weekly, every Friday.

Annual increases:  In accordance with the applicable  Metal Bargaining Council , with annual increases applied on a pro-rata basis where applicable.

Annual bonus:  Pro rata.

Provident/Pension:  Applicable contribution deducted from salary.

Annual shutdown:  Company shutdown generally takes place from approximately  11 December until the second week of January , subject to the company's confirmed annual shutdown dates.

Own transport:  Required for reliable attendance.
