Electrician

Introduction

Main Purpose

To provide an effective electrical maintenance service to the Company by planning, organizing, completing and monitoring of electrical and general maintenance issues throughout the Company.

Duties & Responsibilities

Project planning, reactive and planned plant maintenance

• To ensure that all machinery of the processing plant is in good operation conditions so that production can proceed in the most effective way.

Electrical Duties

• Install, maintain, and repair electrical systems, motors, panels, wiring, and control equipment

• Troubleshoot electrical faults on milling, conveying, batching, and packing equipment

• Support PLC-controlled systems and assist with automation fault-finding

• Carry out preventative electrical maintenance to reduce breakdowns and downtime

Mechanical Duties (as required)

• Assist with mechanical maintenance such as bearings, belts, chains, gearboxes, and conveyors

• Carry out basic mechanical repairs during breakdowns and shutdowns

• Support fitters and maintenance teams during major mechanical work

• Lubrication and routine mechanical inspections

General Maintenance

• Respond to breakdowns during production shifts

• Ensure lock-out, isolation, and permit-to-work procedures are followed

• Keep accurate maintenance and job records

• Assist with shutdowns, upgrades, and new equipment installations

• Work closely with production, quality, and maintenance teams

Inspecting the facility

• Monitors operation of plant equipment and systems continuously to minimize unplanned downtime,

• Anticipate / solve problems in timely manner, and to identify opportunities for improvement.

• Be available during times of breakdowns in the plant and monitor progress until completion of maintenance required

Ordering of spares

• Ensure correct ordering of spares

• Monitoring of stock levels in storeroom

Remain flexible to requests for tasks to be carried out

• Ensure that start-up is done in a correct and safe manner

• Report all breakdowns to the Maintenance Manager

• Oversee that all equipment at all departments are in good working order

• Must be prepared to work overtime and respond to call outs.

• Be prepared to perform duties in all conditions, indoors and outdoors

Adhere to all OHS Policies and Procedures

• Take responsibility that forms required to report hazards, incidents, and accidents are completed

• Actively participate in investigations of hazards, incidents, and accidents reported

• Actively participate in OHS related programs including training

• Ensure that PPE and equipment is worn and used to performed the job safety

• Comply with all safety procedures and statutory regulations

• Maintain high standards of housekeeping in workshops and plant areas

• Support feed safety, hygiene, and contamination control standards

• Report hazards, near misses, and unsafe conditions

Skills & Requirements

• Electrical aptitude in operating hand and power tools

• Good physical condition

• Medically fit

• Excellent flexibility & manual dexterity, as the job involves the regular handling of small parts and carry equipment, stand, and crouch through the day

• Proficient in troubleshooting techniques to solve machine issues

• Excellent mathematical skills and strong attention to detail

• Excellent Technical Skills

• Must be willing and able to work overtime, be on standby and/or available to be called out after hours at short notice
