Electrical Engineer

Research, design, develop, test and/or supervise the manufacturing and installation of electrical equipment, components, or systems within the commercial, grain and lime mine environment.

Duties & Responsibilities

Senwes, a leading agricultural company, is looking for an experienced Electrical Engineer to join our Engineering and Property Assets Department.

The purpose of this role is to oversee the design, implementation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of electrical systems and equipment across Senwes agricultural operations, ensuring optimal efficiency, reliability, safety, and sustainability.

In this position, you will be responsible for

· Conducting feasibility studies and analysing electrical requirements for agricultural projects and infrastructure developments.

· Designing electrical systems, including power distribution networks, control panels, and automation solutions using CAD software.

· Managing the procurement, installation, testing, and commissioning of electrical systems to ensure compliance with design and quality standards.

· Developing and implementing preventive maintenance strategies, conducting inspections, and troubleshooting electrical systems to minimise downtime.

· Performing root cause analysis on electrical failures and implementing corrective actions to improve system reliability.

· Evaluating energy consumption patterns and implementing energy efficiency initiatives, including renewable energy and sustainability solutions.

· Monitoring energy usage data and recommending improvements to optimise operational efficiency and reduce costs.

· Developing and managing electrical engineering projects, including planning, budgeting, scheduling, risk management, and reporting.

· Coordinating with multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders to ensure successful project execution and alignment with operational requirements.

· Ensuring compliance with electrical codes, safety regulations, and industry standards through audits, inspections, and risk assessments.

· Conducting safety training, investigations, and implementing corrective actions to maintain a safe working environment.

· Researching and evaluating emerging electrical technologies and innovations to improve operational performance and support long-term strategy.

· Contributing to continuous improvement initiatives and supporting the adoption of innovative engineering solutions within Senwes.

Desired Experience & Qualification

· B.Eng in Electrical Engineering.

· Professional certifications and relevant licenses will be advantageous.

· Government Certificate of Competency will also be advantageous.

Experience

· At least 4–5 years’ experience working as an Electrical Engineer.

· Proven experience managing electrical projects from conception to completion.

· Experience in industrial plant environments and SAP Plant Maintenance will be advantageous.
