Our client is seeking a technically strong Electrical Engineer PowerFactory Modelling to join their power systems engineering team. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and maintaining detailed electrical network models, performing power system studies and providing engineering solutions for generation, transmission, distribution and renewable energy projects. This role is suited to an Electrical Engineer with strong DIgSILENT PowerFactory experience and a solid understanding of power system analysis, network modelling and grid integration.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, maintain and validate electrical network models using DIgSILENT PowerFactory .
  • Perform detailed power system studies including:
  • Load flow analysis
  • Short-circuit calculations
  • Voltage-drop studies
  • Contingency analysis
  • Fault level assessments
  • Protection coordination
  • Motor starting studies
  • Harmonic analysis
  • Transient and dynamic stability studies
  • Reactive power and voltage-control studies
  • Develop models for solar PV, wind, battery energy storage and other generation technologies .
  • Analyse transmission, distribution and industrial electrical networks.
  • Perform grid-connection and grid-compliance studies.
  • Assess network capacity and identify potential system constraints.
  • Investigate voltage, fault-level, thermal and stability issues.
  • Prepare technical reports and engineering study documentation.
  • Interpret utility and client network data and convert this information into accurate PowerFactory models.
  • Validate simulation results against available operational or measured data.
  • Support the preparation of grid connection applications and technical submissions.
  • Assist with network planning and system optimisation.
  • Provide technical input into electrical design and renewable-energy projects.
  • Liaise with clients, utilities, consultants, project teams and other engineering disciplines.
  • Ensure all modelling and engineering work complies with applicable South African grid codes, NRS requirements, utility standards and relevant IEC/SANS standards .
  • Provide technical support during project development, commissioning and troubleshooting.

Minimum Requirements

• BEng / BSc / BTech in Electrical Engineering . • Experience in electrical power systems engineering. • Strong practical experience using DIgSILENT PowerFactory . • Solid understanding of power system modelling and analysis. • Experience performing electrical network studies. • Good understanding of transmission and/or distribution networks. • Knowledge of protection systems and electrical equipment. .special-hidden { display: none; }
