About the Opportunity

Our client, a leading provider of mining technology, equipment solutions and specialised services, is seeking an experienced Area Manager to join their team.

This is a senior operational and client-facing position responsible for managing service operations, implementing systems and products on mining equipment, and ensuring high-quality service delivery to clients.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the sustainability and profitability of Service Level Agreements (SLAs) and training agreements, while leading operational teams and maintaining strong relationships with key mining clients.

Duties & Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

• Manage and coordinate the operational schedule and implementation of systems and products on clients' mining equipment.

• Coordinate and manage operational staff, allocate tasks and resources, and facilitate effective interdepartmental communication.

• Manage the performance of direct reports and ensure operational targets are achieved.

• Drive employee development, training and continuous improvement.

• Manage disciplinary processes in accordance with company policies and procedures.

• Monitor SLA performance and implement corrective action where required.

• Ensure day-to-day service requirements are effectively managed and completed to client expectations.

• Attend client meetings and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders.

• Provide accurate and meaningful weekly operational reports to Senior Management.

• Provide timely management reporting on service performance, challenges and opportunities.

• Develop strategies to improve service efficiency, reduce costs and enhance customer satisfaction.

• Make recommendations regarding policies, procedures and operational improvements.

• Ensure the effective delivery and profitability of customer SLAs and training agreements.

• Promote a strong culture of safety, compliance, accountability and service excellence.

Desired Experience & Qualification

Technical & Industry Requirements

The successful candidate must have

• Sound knowledge of South African mining legislation, including:

• Occupational Health and Safety Act.

• Mine Health and Safety Act.

• Minerals Act.

• Environmental legislation.

• Good understanding of:

• Labour Relations Act.

• Basic Conditions of Employment Act.

• Knowledge of engineering codes of practice and procedures applicable to coal and hard-rock mining operations in South Africa.

• Knowledge of best practices and emerging technologies relating to electrical and electronic engineering.

• Strong knowledge of flameproofing and gas testing.

• Understanding of mining equipment and service-related operations will be highly advantageous.
