Electrical Design Engineer

Introduction

An established and growing  engineering consulting company  is looking for an experienced  Electrical Design Engineer  to join its multidisciplinary team.

The company provides specialist engineering consulting services across the  renewable energy and building services sectors , delivering technically sound and innovative solutions for a diverse range of projects.

This opportunity would suit an engineer who enjoys  technical design, consulting and project delivery , and who wants exposure to challenging projects across both conventional building services and the rapidly developing renewable energy sector.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Develop electrical designs, specifications, calculations and technical documentation for a variety of projects.

• Undertake electrical engineering design across  building services and renewable energy projects .

• Prepare electrical layouts, single-line diagrams, schematics and equipment specifications.

• Perform electrical load calculations, cable sizing, voltage drop and short-circuit calculations.

• Assist with the design and integration of  solar PV, battery energy storage and other renewable energy systems .

• Coordinate electrical designs with architects, mechanical engineers, civil engineers and other project disciplines.

• Produce and review technical drawings and documentation.

• Conduct site inspections, investigations and technical assessments where required.

• Provide technical input throughout the project lifecycle, from concept and detailed design through to construction.

• Liaise with clients, contractors, suppliers and other professional teams.

• Assist with project cost estimates, tenders and technical evaluations.

• Ensure designs comply with applicable  South African standards, regulations and industry requirements .

• Support senior engineers and project managers with technical delivery and project execution.

Desired Experience & Qualification

• BEng/BSc/BTech in  Electrical Engineering .

• Professional registration with  ECSA  or progress towards professional registration would be advantageous.

• Relevant experience within an  engineering consulting environment .

• Experience in  electrical building services and/or renewable energy design .

• Strong understanding of electrical engineering principles and design practices.

• Experience with relevant design software such as  AutoCAD, Revit, ETAP,

Package & Remuneration

R600 000 CTC to R850 000 CTC per annum based on experience and qualifications
