ELECTRICAL DESIGN ENGINEER

Duties & Responsibilities

• Analyse industrial and commercial customer requirements and develop appropriate electrical solutions.

• Design and specify electrical systems, products and solutions.

• Prepare technical proposals, BOQs, specifications and costing/pricing.

• Recommend suitable brands and products based on technical and customer requirements.

• Assess existing electrical infrastructure and identify opportunities for upgrades, refurbishments and retrofits .

• Provide technical advice relating to energy efficiency, power quality, electrical safety and sustainability.

• Conduct site assessments and technical audits.

• Support the Sales team with technical expertise and customer solutions.

• Ensure solutions comply with relevant electrical standards, quality requirements and company specifications.

• Provide technical input into procurement and product selection.

• Develop and implement the company's electrical engineering strategy, including design standards, quality management and technical risk management .

• Lead and develop a small technical team consisting of:

• Junior Electrical Engineer

• Electrical Technician

• Technical Servicing Technician

• Provide technical leadership, mentoring and guidance to the engineering team.

• Identify opportunities for innovation, improved efficiency and value-added technical solutions.

Desired Experience & Qualification

• A recognised Electrical Engineering qualification .

• Professional engineering registration will be advantageous.

• Solid experience in industrial and/or commercial electrical engineering.

• Strong knowledge of electrical design, specifications and technical solutions.

• Experience with electrical infrastructure assessments, upgrades and refurbishment/retrofit solutions.

• The ability to prepare BOQs, technical proposals and pricing.

• Strong understanding of electrical safety, quality, risk and applicable standards.

• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.

• Strong communication and customer-facing abilities.

• Experience leading and mentoring technical staff.

• The ability to work collaboratively with Sales and other internal teams.

• A practical, solutions-driven and commercially minded approach.
