Our client in the mining and mineral processing equipment industry is currently looking for an E &I Engineer , in Benoni East Rand.
Duties & Responsibilities
- System Design & Development:
- Create detailed electrical, control, and instrumentation schematics, designs, and diagrams using CAD software.
- Develop and document technical information for electrical, control, and instrumentation systems.
- Select appropriate components and technologies based on project requirements.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure design alignment with project objectives.
- Perform simulation and modeling to validate designs.
- Create detailed electrical schematics, designs and diagrams with CAD software for electrical, control and instrumentation systems.
- System Testing & Inspection:
- Test and inspect electrical systems to ensure functionality and compliance with regulatory and safety standards.
- Compile and maintain test data documents and reports to ensure accuracy and up-to-date information.
- Take corrective actions to address issues, ensuring all projects meet high standards.
- Conduct quality checks and audits to ensure compliance with standards.
- System Installation & Commissioning:
- Oversee and assist with the installation of electrical, instrumentation, and control systems, ensuring adherence to design specifications and safety regulations.
- Supervise the commissioning of systems to ensure smooth operation and performance according to design specifications.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues during installation and commissioning to ensure client satisfaction.
- Document installation and commissioning processes and results.
- Workmanship:
- Conduct thorough inspections of electrical, instrumentation, and control systems to identify potential issues.
- Ensure proper utilization of tools and components to prevent damage and ensure safety.
- Maintain attention to detail in inspections, installations, and commissioning activities.
- Project Management:
- Develop and manage comprehensive project plans, including timelines, budgets, and resource allocations.
- Coordinate with procurement for timely acquisition of materials and components.
- Monitor project progress and adjust plans as necessary to meet deadlines.
- Communicate effectively with stakeholders to provide updates and address issues.
- Maintenance & Troubleshooting:
- Develop and implement preventive maintenance programs.
- Conduct regular inspections and maintenance of systems to ensure reliability.
- Diagnose and resolve technical issues promptly.
- Provide technical support and guidance to maintenance teams.
- Team Collaboration:
- Coordinate with team members and other departments for project planning and implementation.
- Foster effective communications with team members, vendors and supervisors.
- Provide project updates and status to management, clients and supervisors.
- System Reliability:
- Monitor electrical, instrumentation and control reliability and performance.
- Identify improvement opportunities for overall electrical, instrumentation and control system reliability to reduce downtime and eliminate future issues.
- Implement preventive solutions for any identified issues.
- Documentation:
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of installations, tests, commissioning, repairs, and issues.
- Prepare detailed reports on project progress, system performance, and maintenance activities.
- Document troubleshooting procedures and ensure all documentation is accessible and current.
- Document electrical specifications and compile all the electrical information in OEM manuals and modifications for future reference.
- On-site Assistance:
- Provide on-site support during installation to ensure design specifications and equipment integrity are maintained.
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues on-site during installation commissioning and repairs.
- Safety Compliance:
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and protocols during all phases of work.
- Conduct risk assessments and develop strategies to mitigate risks.
- Implement and enforce safety protocols and procedures, and provide safety training to staff.
- Investigate and report safety incidents, implementing corrective measures.
- Continuous Improvement:
- Identify opportunities for process and system improvements.
- Implement changes to enhance efficiency and reduce costs.
- Stay updated with the latest technologies and industry trends.
- Collaborate with R&D to integrate innovative solutions.
- Customer & Stakeholder Engagement:
- Provide timely and accurate technical support to customers.
- Gather and analyze customer feedback to improve systems and services.
- Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
- Ensure all customer requirements and specifications are met.
- Training and Development:
- Develop and deliver training programs on electrical and instrumentation systems and best practices.
- Provide ongoing technical support and mentorship to team members.
- Encourage continuous learning and professional development.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of training programs and make necessary improvements.
- Regulatory Compliance:
- Conduct regular safety inspections to maintain a safe work environment.
- Ensure all electrical, instrumentation, and control systems adhere to relevant codes, standards, and regulatory requirements.
- General:
- All reasonable additional tasks within your field of expertise as instructed by Management shall be executed.
- Non-productivity shall not be accommodated at any point of time. Tasks related to external (paying) clients always take preference.
Desired Experience & Qualification
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, Technical Engineering Diploma or other related engineering fields. ECSA registration or as an ECSA Candidate is advantageous.
- Proficiency in CAD software for creating schematics and electrical layouts. Strong skills in designing, developing, and testing electrical systems, instrumentation, and control systems.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar or junior role within electrical and instrumentation engineering in an industrial setting.
- Experience in OEM equipment design and fabrication is beneficial. Knowledge of project management principles and practices is an added advantage.
- Skills:
- Electrical Engineering Principles: Understanding of basic electrical engineering principles, power systems, control systems, AC/DC power systems, transformers, and motor control.
- Instrumentation Engineering Fundamentals: Knowledge of measurement and sensors, signal conditioning, and process control including PID control and feedback loops.
- Industrial Automation: Basics of PLC programming, SCADA systems, and their applications in industrial automation.
- ICT and Networking Basics: Basic understanding of LAN, WAN, network topologies, data communication, and cybersecurity principles.
- Software Proficiency: Proficient with using CAD for creating electrical schematics, designs and diagrams.
- Standards & Codes: Familiarity with electrical and instrumentation engineering standards and codes.
- Safety Protocols: Adherence and knowledge to workplace safety guidelines and protocols ensuring workplace safety. Knowledge if electrical safety practices, including lockout/tagout procedures.
- Communication Skills: Ability to convey technical information, collaborate with team members, and provide updates to supervisors and stakeholders.
- Team Collaboration: Capability to work collaboratively in a team environment, including coordinating with electrical personnel, engineers, and other stakeholders.
- Adaptability: Willingness to adapt to new technologies, methodologies, and industry best practices.
- Time management: Effective time management skills to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
- Environmental Awareness: Knowledge of environm
