Introduction

Position: E&CI Engineer – Electrical, Control & Instrumentation

Location: Benoni, Gauteng

Salary: Up to R75,000 CTC per month

Employment Type: Full-time Industry: Mining / Mineral Processing Equipment / Industrial OEM

Travel: Approximately 20–40%, including local and international travel

About the Role

Our client is a specialised South African OEM operating within the mineral processing and mining equipment sector. The business designs, manufactures and commissions specialised mineral processing equipment and plants for clients in South Africa and internationally.

We are seeking an experienced and motivated E&CI Engineer to join the engineering team. The successful candidate will take ownership of electrical, control and instrumentation design and implementation from concept through to commissioning.

This is a practical, hands-on engineering role for someone who enjoys solving technical problems both in the office and on-site.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Design electrical control systems for mineral processing equipment and plants.

• Develop PLC software and HMI/SCADA applications.

• Design and review Motor Control Centres (MCCs), control panels and electrical distribution systems.

• Prepare electrical drawings, cable schedules, I/O lists and engineering documentation.

• Specify electrical and instrumentation equipment.

• Participate in design reviews and ensure compliance with applicable standards.

• Conduct Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) with clients.

• Perform on-site commissioning, troubleshooting and start-up of equipment.

• Support Site Acceptance Testing (SAT) and performance testing.

• Diagnose and resolve PLC, instrumentation, networking and electrical faults.

• Liaise with mechanical engineers, project managers, workshop personnel, suppliers and clients.

• Provide technical support throughout the project lifecycle.

• Assist in developing engineering standards and best practices.

Desired Experience & Qualification

• BEng in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics or similar.

• 3–8 years' experience in industrial automation or electrical engineering.

• Experience with PLC programming, preferably Siemens and Allen Bradley.

• Experience designing MCCs and industrial control panels.

• Understanding of industrial instrumentation and field devices.

• Ability to read and produce electrical schematics.

• Experience with industrial communication networks such as Profinet, Profibus, Ethernet/IP or Modbus.

• Willingness to travel locally and internationally for commissioning work.

• Valid driver's licence.

Preferred Experience

• Siemens TIA Portal, Studio 5000 or Codesys.

• WinCC, Ignition or other SCADA/HMI platforms.

• Variable Speed Drives (VSDs).

• Industrial networking.

• Mining or mineral processing plants.

• Electrical CAD software such as EPLAN, AutoCAD Electrical or similar.

• Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and Site Acceptance Testing (SAT).

• Site commissioning and troubleshooting.

Package & Remuneration

Market related up to R75 000 CTC
