Introduction

As a Driver Trainer, you will play a key role in promoting safe driving behaviors, reducing

workplace transport risk, and supporting learners through accredited training programmes.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Facilitate practical and theoretical driver training across relevant vehicle categories
  • Adapt training delivery to suit learner needs, language proficiency and experience
  • levels
  • Conduct pre- and post-training assessments, including POE compilation and
  • evaluation
  • Maintain full compliance with SAQA, SETA, QCTO, and internal quality standards
  • Ensure training equipment is set up, maintained, and used correctly
  • Provide clear, constructive feedback to learners
  • Complete all training documentation accurately and within required timeframes
  • Support audits, learner verifications, and accreditation requirements
  • Promote additional training solutions to clients where appropriate
  • Represent the company professionally at all times and uphold all safety and
  • confidentiality standards

Desired Experience & Qualification

Qualifications

  • Matric / Grade 12
  • Assessor Certificate
  • Moderator Certificate
  • Valid driving license (EC / Code 14)
  • Valid PrDP for applicable vehicle categories
  • ETDP or training-related qualification – advantageous
  • HSE-related training (SAMTRAC, First Aid, Fire Fighting) – advantageous
  • Accreditation with relevant SETA(s) or professional bodies – advantageous

Experience

  • 3–5 years’ professional driving experience
  • 2–3 years’ experience delivering driver training (defensive driving, practical
  • evaluations, theory facilitation)
  • Experience compiling and assessing POEs within SAQA/SETA/QCTO frameworks
  • Exposure to logistics, fleet, transport or warehouse environments
  • Experience participating in audits or accreditation processes – advantageous

Knowledge

  • National Road Traffic Act and relevant regulations
  • OHS Act and workplace transport safety requirements
  • SAQA/SETA/QCTO assessment principles and quality standards
  • Defensive driving techniques, hazard perception, and incident prevention
  • Adult learning methodologies and inclusive facilitation practices
  • Record-keeping requirements for accredited training

Skills

  • Strong communication and presentation skills
  • Confident delivering both practical and theoretical training
  • Excellent assessment and documentation accuracy
  • Ability to adapt to different learner groups and environments
  • High professionalism, integrity, and attention to detail
  • Strong time management and organisational skills
  • Computer literacy (MS Office)

Other

  • Must be willing to travel to office and client sites
  • Must have own motor vehicle
