Job Title: Drawing Office Manager Start Date: 2026-07-22 - 2026-08-21 Vacancy Type: Permanent BOK005808 Sectors: Engineering & Technical Location: Gauteng , JHB - Southern Suburbs Salary: R 80000 Monthly Cost To Company Brief: Drawing Office Manager required for company based in Alberton Detail: Qualification Matric Professional Certificate in Mechanical Draughting Additional management, engineering, or project management qualifications will be advantageous Requirements Minimum 8–10 years' experience in a mechanical draughting environment within the heavy industrial, mining equipment, or manufacturing industry Minimum 3 years' experience in a supervisory or management role within a drawing office Strong mechanical engineering, fabrication, and manufacturing knowledge Advanced proficiency in Autodesk software, including Vault, Inventor, and AutoCAD (2D & 3D) Proven experience managing drawing office workflows, document control systems, and revision processes Strong understanding of engineering drawings, industry standards, and quality requirements Excellent attention to detail and commitment to accuracy Sound knowledge of measuring equipment and reverse engineering methodologies Thorough understanding of tolerances, geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T), machining symbols, welding symbols, and assembly modelling Strong leadership, communication, planning, and problem-solving skills Ability to manage multiple projects, deadlines, and priorities simultaneously Duties Drawing Office Management Lead, supervise, and mentor the Drawing Office team to ensure high-quality engineering deliverables. Allocate resources and manage workloads to meet project deadlines and business objectives. Establish, maintain, and continuously improve drawing office procedures, standards, and best practices. Ensure compliance with company standards, engineering specifications, and quality requirements. Manage drawing revisions, document control processes, and engineering data within Autodesk Vault. Engineering Design & Draughting Oversee the reverse engineering of existing components to achieve accurate models for interference checking, maintenance, and manufacturing purposes. Review and approve models, assemblies, and manufacturing drawings produced by the draughting team. Ensure existing components are accurately modelled from measurements and that new components are designed to integrate seamlessly with existing assemblies. Verify that assemblies are correctly modelled and tested for fit, function, and interference. Ensure modifications and new designs are detailed comprehensively for manufacturing and fabrication. Quality & Continuous Improvement Conduct drawing reviews and audits to ensure compliance with company and industry standards. Implement quality control measures to minimise drawing errors and rework. Collaborate with engineering, production, procurement, and project teams to resolve technical challenges. Drive continuous improvement initiatives within the drawing office to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and productivity.
