Our client is seeking experienced Senior .NET Developers to design, develop and enhance scalable, high-performance applications within a distributed microservices environment. The successful candidates will work extensively with .NET 8+, C# 12+, SQL Server, REST/gRPC APIs and event-driven architectures, while contributing to architecture decisions, technical leadership, production stability and continuous modernisation. The role requires strong engineering craftsmanship, performance optimisation and ownership within a fast-moving and regulated environment.
Responsibilities
- Build, enhance and maintain scalable, high-performance applications using .NET 8+ and C# 12+ within distributed microservices architectures.
- Design and implement RESTful and gRPC APIs, ensuring appropriate documentation, backward compatibility and versioning standards.
- Develop event-driven services using RabbitMQ, Kafka or Azure Service Bus to support high-volume asynchronous workloads.
- Design and optimise SQL Server databases, queries, indexing and execution plans for high-throughput production environments.
- Implement advanced caching patterns using Redis and distributed caching, where applicable, to reduce latency and improve application performance.
- Drive code quality through rigorous code reviews, SOLID principles, design patterns, refactoring and established software engineering standards.
- Develop and maintain automated testing across unit, integration, contract and load-testing layers.
- Design and manage Azure DevOps CI/CD pipelines, release processes and modern deployment strategies including blue-green and canary deployments.
- Perform application profiling, debugging and performance optimisation while supporting logging, tracing and observability practices.
- Lead technical design discussions, contribute to architecture decisions and identify opportunities for system modernisation and performance improvements.
- Lead incident response, post-mortems and operational improvement activities for high-severity production issues.
- Mentor junior and mid-level developers while collaborating effectively with technical and cross-functional teams

- Strong experience with Dapper and/or EF Core, including ORM trade-offs and performance tuning, is required.
- Advanced SQL Server experience covering query tuning, indexing, execution plans and statistics is required.
- Strong microservices architecture experience, including service boundaries, communication patterns and reliability, is required.
- Experience with RabbitMQ, Kafka or Azure Service Bus and event-driven architecture is required.
- Strong experience designing REST and/or gRPC APIs, including backward compatibility and versioning, is required.
- Advanced Azure DevOps pipeline design and release management experience is required.

General Information
- Contract: 12 Months Renewable – Open to Permanent employment
- Location: Johannesburg
- Mode of Work: Hybrid – 4 days per week in the office
