- A minimum of NQF 7 in Journalism, Public Relations, Marketing or related field of study as recognised by the SAQA. A minimum of 5 years' experience at a middle or Senior managerial level in the relevant field.
- Knowledge: Marketing and communications, Extensive knowledge of department strategic objective, In-depth knowledge of Government Communication processes, Extensive knowledge of Departments Communication processes and policies, Extensive knowledge about the dynamics of South African media, In-depth knowledge of government protocol processes, Development and implementation of strategies, Public Finance Management Act, Supply Chain Management, Office Management, Structure and functioning of the Department.

DUTIES
- Manage the development and implementation of marketing and public relations policies and strategies: Undertake research on the latest developments in professional guidelines, legislations and standards. Manage benchmarks with various institutions for marketing and public relations best practices. Lead the development and execution of comprehensive marketing and public relations strategies. Ensure that all marketing and public relations policies, guidelines and standards are developed in line with applicable prescripts and are aligned to the Department's strategic objective. Monitor the implementation and ensure compliance with applicable policies and Directives. Evaluate marketing and public relations strategies and processes in order to continually improve them.
- Oversee the coordination of the departments marketing to enhance awareness and public relations: Oversee the planning of marketing and public relations campaigns. Manage the coordination of marketing and public relations surveys and analysis of the department's public image and reputation. Manage the use of corporate advertising to establish maintain departments` corporate identity in the public domain. Oversee the production of marketing and public relations written and visual communication material. Ensure documents and marketing materials are current, accurate and properly reflect the department's brand and desired message. Manage the coordination of all departmental and Ministers Public Participation Programmes MPPP.
- Manage the building of the department's corporate identity and work on maintaining a positive image: Establish and maintain sound stakeholder relations. Respond to requests for information release with regard to marketing and public relations. Oversee the promotion the department's image through public participation at special publicity events and exhibitions. Manage the development of programs to maintain positive public and stockholder views of the department's agenda and accomplishments. Ensure brand compliance as per the corporate identity guidelines. Manage the corporate identity promotional materials. Provide advice to stakeholders on corporate identity guidelines.
- Manage the Directorate: Establish and maintain appropriate internal controls and reporting systems in order to meet performance expectations. Management of performance and development. Establish, implement and maintain efficient and effective communication arrangements. Develop and manage the operational plan of the directorate and report on progress as required. Compile and submit all required administrative reports. Serve on transverse task teams as required. Quality control of work delivered by employees.
