- A premier tissue manufacturing and logistics leader is seeking a qualified, highly experienced Diesel Mechanic to join our team in Middelburg. This role is ideal for a skilled mechanical professional who has extensive experience operating and maintaining heavy articulated vehicles and interlink truck combinations.
- You will be responsible for ensuring the fleet remains fully operational, roadworthy, and efficient, while safely transporting cargo to designated national destinations.
Key Responsibilities
- Transport cargo safely and efficiently to designated destinations.
- Conduct rigorous daily pre-trip, en-route, and post-trip vehicle inspections.
- Ensure all transport documentation and logs are accurately completed and maintained.
- Maintain the cleanliness and roadworthiness of vehicles and trailers; report defects, breakdowns, and incidents promptly.
- Ensure all loads are transported securely and delivered strictly on schedule.
- Represent the company professionally when interacting with customers and the public.
Minimum Requirements
- Valid Code 14 Driver's License and a valid Professional Driving Permit (PrDP).
- Minimum of 5 years' experience operating articulated trucks and interlink combinations.
- Clean driving record with no criminal record.
- Medically fit to handle long-distance driving demands.
- Ability to work extended hours, weekends, and public holidays when required.
- Strong communication, excellent interpersonal skills, and proficiency in vehicle inspections and basic fault reporting.
