Job Title: Diesel Mechanic Assistant Start Date: 2026-07-15 - 2026-08-14 Vacancy Type: Contractor PTA001776 Sectors: Mining and Quarrying Location: North West , Mooi Nooi Salary: (Market related) Brief: Assistant Diesel Mechanic A leading company in the mining industry is seeking an Assistant Diesel Mechanic to join its operations in Mooinooi, North West , on a 12-month contract. The successful candidate will assist qualified Diesel Mechanics with the inspection, servicing, maintenance and repair of heavy mining and earthmoving equipment while maintaining high safety standards Detail: Minimum Requirements: Minimum of 1–2 years' experience as an Assistant Diesel Mechanic, within the mining industry. Knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulic systems and mechanical components. Exposure to servicing and repairing heavy mining equipment will be advantageous. Medically fit to work on a mine site. Willing to work shifts, overtime and standby when required. Strong commitment to health, safety and environmental standards. Roles and Responsibilities: Assist Diesel Mechanics with servicing, maintaining and repairing heavy mining and earthmoving equipment. Assist with preventative maintenance and scheduled servicing of diesel-powered machinery. Support fault finding and diagnostics on diesel engines, hydraulic systems and mechanical components. Replace worn or damaged parts under the supervision of a qualified Diesel Mechanic. Perform routine inspections and report defects or equipment abnormalities. Assist with dismantling, cleaning, repairing and reassembling mechanical components. Ensure all tools, equipment and work areas are maintained in a clean and safe condition. Complete basic maintenance documentation and job cards accurately. Adhere to all company policies, mine health and safety regulations and safe work procedures. Assist with breakdowns and emergency repairs to minimise equipment downtime. Carry out any additional duties related to the workshop or field maintenance as instructed by the Supervisor.
