About the role

  • We're looking for an experienced DevOps Engineer II to help drive secure, scalable, and reliable software delivery across our cloud and data platforms.
  • This role combines traditional DevOps engineering with deep expertise in Kubernetes, AWS, Infrastructure as Code, and DevSecOps practices. You'll play a key role in designing and operating production platforms, enabling secure cross-account access patterns, mentoring engineers, and supporting customer-facing products running at scale.
  • As a trusted technical specialist, you'll work closely with Engineering, Data, Analytics, and Machine Learning teams to deliver resilient platform capabilities that accelerate innovation while maintaining high standards of security, reliability, and operational excellence.

What you'll do

DevOps & Platform Engineering

  • Design, build, and maintain CI/CD pipelines across multiple applications and environments.
  • Implement infrastructure automation and configuration management using Infrastructure as Code IaC practices.
  • Develop secure, repeatable deployment patterns that improve software delivery speed and reliability.
  • Continuously enhance automation, tooling, operational processes, and engineering standards.

Kubernetes & Cloud Platform Operations

  • Act as a Kubernetes subject matter expert across engineering teams.
  • Design, operate, scale, and secure production Kubernetes environments.
  • Support teams deploying workloads onto Kubernetes clusters while promoting platform best practices.
  • Manage container lifecycle processes and deployment patterns using Kubernetes and Helm.
  • Improve platform resilience, scalability, observability, and operational stability.

AWS & Infrastructure Management

  • Build and manage cloud infrastructure across multiple AWS accounts.
  • Implement and maintain Terraform-based infrastructure deployments.
  • Design secure cross-account access patterns and cloud governance controls.
  • Manage AWS services and capabilities including IAM, STS, S3, VPC networking, and related platform services.
  • Ensure infrastructure remains secure, scalable, and aligned to organisational standards.

DevSecOps & Security

  • Embed security controls, vulnerability scanning, and compliance requirements into CI/CD pipelines.
  • Partner with security stakeholders to drive DevSecOps best practices.
  • Define and implement secure onboarding and access management patterns.
  • Support compliance, governance, and security initiatives across cloud and platform environments.

Platform Reliability & Support

  • Troubleshoot deployment, platform, infrastructure, and environment-related issues.
  • Perform root cause analysis on incidents and implement sustainable remediation plans.
  • Support monitoring, alerting, operational readiness, and service reliability initiatives.
  • Provide clear communication and stakeholder updates during incidents and major platform events.

Collaboration & Mentorship

  • Work closely with Software Engineers, Data Engineers, Analytics teams, Machine Learning teams, Operations, and Security stakeholders.
  • Enable secure data access and platform adoption across federated teams.
  • Mentor junior DevOps Engineers on Kubernetes, cloud engineering, automation frameworks, and secure multi-account architectures.
  • Promote reusable templates, documentation standards, and engineering best practices.

What you bring

Qualifications

  • Degree or Diploma in Information Technology, Computer Science, Software Development, Information Systems, or a related field.
  • AWS, Cloud, DevOps, DevSecOps, or Agile certifications are highly desirable.
  • Equivalent practical experience and demonstrated technical capability will also be considered.

Experience

  • Minimum 5+ years' experience in DevOps Engineering, Platform Engineering, Cloud Operations, or Software Delivery Automation.
  • 6+ years' experience will be advantageous, particularly within large-scale cloud environments.
  • Proven experience supporting production, customer-facing applications running on Kubernetes.
  • Experience within retail, enterprise-scale, or complex technology environments is advantageous.
  • Proven track record of implementing automation, cloud infrastructure, monitoring, and deployment solutions.
