A specialist conveyancing law firm based in Cape Town is seeking an experienced Developments Manager / Conveyancer to lead and manage its Developments Department.
This is a senior role for an Admitted Attorney and Conveyancer with proven experience managing property development matters, people, clients, projects and departmental operations, together with the commercial acumen to drive the continued growth of the Developments department.
Duties & Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the Developments Department effectively and efficiently.
- Drive business development, lead generation and financial growth within the Developments practice.
- Identify new business opportunities and provide relevant market intelligence.
- Develop and maintain strong client and stakeholder relationships.
- Manage client expectations and ensure consistently high levels of client service.
- Monitor departmental performance against financial and operational targets.
- Understand and implement effective business processes, procedures and departmental strategy.
- Conduct and utilise market research to identify opportunities, trends and potential problem areas.
- Identify issues timeously and escalate significant matters to Directors where necessary.
- Manage HR-related matters within the department.
- Ensure effective utilisation of internal systems, conveyancing systems and related technology.
- Manage departmental information and ensure appropriate record keeping.
- Train and onboard new staff on internal systems, programs, processes and the firm's procedures.
- Provide leadership, direction, support and performance management to the Developments team.
- Ensure efficient project management, workflow management and deadline management.
- Support the broader team where required.

Desired Experience & Qualification
Qualifications & Experience
- LLB or equivalent legal qualification.
- Admitted Attorney.
- Admitted Conveyancer.
- Approximately 5 years' proven experience in a Development Manager / Property Developments management capacity.
- Strong experience in property development conveyancing.
- Proven experience managing a legal/conveyancing department or team.
- Demonstrable experience in client relationship management, business development and financial performance.
- Experience managing staff, workflows, systems and departmental processes.
