Job Description

Purpose of the Role

  • The Desktop Claims Validator is responsible for validating and assessing building insurance claims remotely, ensuring all claims are accurately evaluated, comply with policy terms and conditions, and are processed efficiently. The role involves reviewing supporting documentation, repair estimates, assessor reports, photographs, and supplier quotations to determine claim validity and settlement recommendations.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Grade 12 / Matric
  • Relevant Short-Term Insurance qualification advantageous
  • FAIS accreditation advantageous
  • Certificate or qualification in Construction, Building Science, Quantity Surveying, or related field advantageous

Experience Required

  • 3-5 years' experience in Short-Term Insurance Claims
  • Experience in Building Claims Validation or Claims Assessment
  • Knowledge of residential and commercial building repairs and maintenance
  • Experience validating quotations, invoices, assessor reports, and claim documentation
  • Understanding of policy wordings and claim settlement procedures

Key Responsibilities

  • Validate building claims in accordance with policy terms and conditions.
  • Review assessor reports, photographs, quotations, and supporting documentation.
  • Verify the accuracy and reasonableness of repair and replacement costs.
  • Identify inconsistencies, potential fraud indicators, and claim discrepancies.
  • Ensure claims meet quality and compliance standards.
  • Provide recommendations regarding claim approval, rejection, or settlement.
  • Liaise with assessors, contractors, service providers, brokers, and policyholders.
  • Maintain accurate claim records and notes on claims systems.
  • Meet agreed turnaround times and service level agreements.

  • Exposure to loss adjusting or building assessment environments.

Education

  • Higher Diplomas: Business, Commerce and Management Studies Required
