We are seeking an experienced Design & Construction Compliance Engineer to join a major mining plant construction project in Richards Bay.
The successful candidate will be responsible for reviewing and verifying engineering design documentation and construction methodologies, ensuring that project deliverables comply with applicable South African legislation, mining requirements, engineering standards and construction codes.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Review and verify design drawings, technical documentation and construction method statements prior to approval.
- Ensure designs and construction methodologies comply with applicable South African standards, codes and regulatory requirements.
- Review technical documentation for compliance with relevant mining legislation and statutory requirements.
- Assess construction methods against applicable building, engineering and mining plant construction standards.
- Identify design, technical and compliance risks and recommend appropriate corrective actions.
- Liaise with engineering, construction and project teams regarding technical and compliance requirements.
- Maintain accurate records of technical reviews, approvals and supporting documentation.
- Provide technical input to ensure construction activities meet approved designs, specifications and regulatory requirements.
Desired Experience & Qualification
Education
- Bachelor's Degree or higher in an appropriate Engineering, Construction or related technical discipline.
Experience
- Minimum 3 years' relevant professional experience.
- Experience in mining, mining plant construction, engineering or major construction projects will be advantageous.
Knowledge & Technical Skills
- Extensive knowledge of South African design and construction codes and standards.
- Good understanding of applicable South African mining legislation and regulatory requirements.
- Strong knowledge of building codes and standards applicable to mining plant construction.
- Ability to review and interpret technical drawings, specifications and construction methodologies.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and general engineering/project documentation systems.
