Role Summary
The Deputy Nursing Manager will be responsible to assist management of the nursing functions in the hospital through the assistance of implementation of the Nursing Model in all wards and units which include the co-ordination of all functions and activities related to the provision, promotion and assurance of quality patient care, through the leadership of the Nursing team in consultation with all stakeholders.
Key Work Output and Accountabilities
- Coordinate nursing practice within a legal, ethical and clinical governance framework
- Contribute to and drive the nursing strategy in line with the business
- Coordinate nursing activities with other departments to align to the strategy and goals of the organization
- Drive and support all quality improvement initiatives
- Function within a multidisciplinary team to enhance clinical outcomes
- Manage patient experience and promote a positive patient journey
- Manage the patient environment in relation to health and safety and infection prevention and control
- Conduct effective risk management within a healthcare environment
- Promote continuous professional development through nursing education
- Manage the Nursing budget to promote cost effective quality care
- Contribute to the growth and development of nurses within the organization
- Develop a succession plan for key role players
- Assist with recruiting and retaining the nursing workforce
Desired Experience & Qualification
Inherent Requirements
- Degree or Diploma in Nursing
- Current registration with the South African Nursing Council as a General, Psychiatric and Community Health Nurse and Midwife.
- Post basic qualification in Nursing administration or equivalent management qualification
- Post basic qualification in Nursing Education will be advantageous
- At least five years experience in a management role in a private hospital setting
- Advanced Computer Literacy
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Strong financial knowledge with the ability to interpret financial data
