An established luxury hotel is seeking an experienced Deputy General Manager to support its overall management and strategic direction. This opportunity suits a commercially minded hospitality professional with strong leadership skills, extensive five-star hotel experience and a commitment to exceptional guest service.
Job Description
The successful candidate will support the General Manager in overseeing hotel operations, driving profitability and maintaining consistently high service standards. The role requires hands-on leadership across operational departments, effective team development and a strong understanding of luxury hospitality.
The Deputy General Manager will assume overall operational responsibility in the General Manager’s absence.
Duties & Responsibilities
Support the General Manager with the overall management and strategic direction of the hotel.
Provide visible, hands-on leadership across all operational departments.
Develop short- and long-term strategies and action plans aligned with the hotel’s mission, vision and values.
Ensure exceptional guest experiences and consistent service standards.
Monitor and improve guest satisfaction, online reputation and service delivery.
Drive operational efficiency, profitability and effective cost management.
Support budgeting, forecasting, revenue optimisation and financial performance.
Lead, coach, motivate and develop department heads and hotel teams.
Build competent, motivated teams through supportive and accountable leadership.
Maintain strong relationships with guests, corporate clients, partners and stakeholders.
Ensure corporate governance and compliance with company policies, brand standards, health and safety requirements and applicable legislation.
Identify opportunities to enhance the hotel’s products, services and overall guest offering.
Promote a positive, professional and performance-driven working environment.
Take overall operational responsibility in the General Manager’s absence.
Desired Experience & Qualification
A formal qualification relevant to hospitality or hotel management, or extensive relevant hospitality managerial experience .
Experience and Skills
At least seven years’ relevant hospitality managerial experience , including a minimum of four years in the five-star hotel market .
Proven experience as a Deputy General Manager or in a similar senior leadership role.
Currently hold a Head of Department position .
Strong understanding of luxury hotel operations across Rooms, Food and Beverage, and supporting departments.
Demonstrated commercial and financial acumen.
A proven track record of managing operations and employees effectively through departmental managers and supervisors.
Strong leadership, coaching and team development skills.
Excellent relationship management and guest service skills.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively to deliver high standards.
